Is the prestige mp more like the pro tour 630 than the pro tour 2 is?

I think the Head Pro Tour 2.0 is closer to the original PT630 than the Prestige MP, albeit slightly stiffer and thus easier to use. Another similar frame would be Angell TC97 18x20.

I've never hit with an original PT630 but have heard posters mention the Wilson Ultra Pro can be a good option.

Neither are like the Head Pro Tour original, the Blade v7 18x20 is a good candidate for a modern frame to replace the Pro Tour 630, or a Blade Pro or a VCore Pro. Blade v8 seems to have very positive reviews and by all accounts doesn't deviate too much from the v7.

Blade Pro is really nice, and very close to the old school head feel. But will have a beefy swing weight, so different spec dynamics to the Pro Tour.

I might get killed for this :) but in my humble and very subjective opinion the Pro Tour 2.0 is a very overrated frame. It doesn't do anything really well, and it just feels stiff and lifeless. No soul. It's not really any easier to use than the original, so added stiffness just made it fell, well pretty crap. If I wanted a stiff but capable players frame I would buy a Pro Staff. Also the current Prestige Pro is an awesome frame, and I would choose that over the ProTour 2.0.

If the Pro Tour 2.0 was a 16 x 19 it might have been interesting, but then it would have been a re-painted IG Prestige Pro. Yes the IG Prestige series were really nice.

In the current Head line up, the Speed and Gravity series have the Head DNA and are really nice modern offerings.

Note: Yes I know the Pro Tour 2.0 is a different mold to the IG Prestige Pro. Also, the best replacement for a Head Pro Tour is the Head i.Prestige MP, do yourself a favour and find a second hand i.Prestige.
Sorry, haven't played tennis in a very long time, going lockdown crazy and felt like a rant :) All in jest, don't take it personally if you love the Pro Tour 2.0.

I find the Pro Tour 2.0 to be a really potent stick. It does everything well and feels excellent. It's probably the best stick Head has made in years for those who really liked the IG Prestige Mid and MP. I find it easier to play with than the Blade Pro 18x20, which is also a fantastic stick.

Can you really trust the quality of small custom brands like angell tho?

I dont get it, you say the pt2.0 is not that great but then you say it would be the same as an ig prestige pro, and you then say the ig prestige pro is a good racquet. Are you say that changing the pro tour 2.0 from 18x20 to 16x19 makes it a much better racquet? Because thats what follows from what you are saying isnt it?

also i checked **** and theres alot more ig pretige pros than ig prestige mps. Is the pro not as good as the mp? What specs are different between the pro and the mp?

thanks for being candid senpai. I always appreciate ppl who tell it like it is.

Most would argue they are more reputable simply b/c they don’t mass produce as many sticks as the big dogs.
Yeah but racquets are some pretty high level engineering. Unless the engineers at angell were like former engineering badasses at a major racquet firm like head or wilson or yonex, i dont know if i would trust them.

would you buy a car made by “joes fried chicken and automobiles” over a volkswagen?

I Dono man I own a VW and it’s a piece of sh*t.

Jokes aside I think you make a valid point. I personally don’t have any experience with Angell, just speculation based on what folks around here say.

Why dont any pros play with angell sticks tho?
I read your link and it kind of seems to me if they really did produce a true gem of a racquet then why not mass produce it and market it for the same demo that head wilson etc market for?

like if you make a car thats as good as a honda crv and you can sell it for the same price why not try to sell as many as honda does and make billions of dollars?

Because Angell isn't spending its money on sponsorships. Sponsorships are a huge part of the money tennis players make, especially outside of the upper echelons where players can depend on plenty of prize money and appearance fees. Players need to play with something that'll provide them with steady income. Same reason why you don't see many Prince racquets on tour even though they make great sticks. Prince isn't doing great financially and can only afford a few sponsorships.

I played with my friends parents prince racquet and it was the biggest piece of sh#t ive ever played with. It had no ability to generat spin its balance was terrible. Maybe prince does make some good racquets but im not going to bother demoing any of them bc i love the solidity of head racquets.

Hard to imagine the new Pro is a better frame than the old one (G360+ Prestige MP) ...
It's now my racket of choice, and is the best player's frame I've used so far. The 95 sq in PTs and alike are just to hard to handle, with a small sweet zone, when playing competitively for my part.

I was impressed by the new Prestige Pro

Paul Angell used to work for Dunlop and make racquets for Steffi Graf and other pros. He's responsible for some of the best and greatest Dunlop racquets. So, YES I think I would trust him.

Maybe you should try some of his Custom Racquets and find out for yourself. Absolutely awesome racquets.

They can't pay the money Head or Wilson can to the Pros... so the Pros don't use them. It's understandable... if I was a Pro, I would try all the racquets from different manufacturers and pick out the ones I like (there would be one from every manufacturer that would suit). Then I would go with the company that pays me the most and gives me the best deal.

To use your car comparison... would you rather have a Pagani Zonda or Huayra or a Ferrari 458? Both great cars... but the Pagani is more rare, it's like a piece of expensive jewellery, it's craftsmanship is so far above Ferrari that it's not even a comparison. Yet, there are not as many out there... why? Because it takes longer to produce, to keep the quality and high standards, Pagani makes only a certain number per year. Upscaling has lots of different things involved with it. The cost of expansion (new factory, more staff, expenses that not everyone has), it also reduces the quality of the product (Angell's racquets have so much better quality control than Head, Wilson, and the other manufacturers, it's not even close to being comparable), and very often it involves loosing control and ownership of the company to many other partners (or even a large board that can get rid of you)... not everyone wants that.

Best thing I can tell you is try to find someone who has one (or buy one from a second-hand source) and find out for yourself.

No one mention the Tecnifibre tfight 315 Limited? Unless I missed it. Deserves a mention anyway?
Where does the new one sit in comparison to previous Prestige versions?
Better yet where does it sit in comparison with the Pro Tour 2.0
It felt more connected, the string bed feels more lively, it feels like it’s more flexible because you feel more connected and it has better feed back.
Damn it. And here I was looking around for some possibly cheap old remaining stock 360+ Prestige MPs to go with the one I have after waiting around for a different pj. I never gelled with the all-red personally. Was hoping for a special limited version.

Expected them to make it more lively. But didn't think they would look to improve on the feel. Looks like lots of demoing in the near future.

I think he means since the prev gen was called Graphene 360+ Prestige XXX, will there be a change in the nomenclature, other than the juggling of model names?
i dunno if im allowed to say. it says both “graphene inside” and another new word on the frame
