most people find that they are different. for me, it seems like the red ones tend to be softer than the black ones and produce a different feel

I know it because I made it up. For me, the black ones make me serve like Pete, but the red ones make me volley like him. So I put one of each on.
^^^LMAO, Can you use the scientific weight measuring device that they use in the nuclear power plant to weight the two and see which one is lighter ? and get back to me.

how much do these dampeners weigh, and is there any difference in weight between red and black?

Good idea! I'll hop the fence on my way home and see if I can use their triple beam.

Sampras used the red one with a black pj on it, that was his secret weapon, and thats the reason he won 14 GS......

Any way to make the black 'O' softer??

Like several people have said, I find the black 'O' to be much harder than the red one. I want to use my black one on my new racquet but it makes a pinging sound with the black one. Using the red one, or any other dampener removes this pinging and sounds much more solid.

I currently use the red one with a different racquet so I don't want to put it on this new one... I'd like to use the black one as it would kind of suck if I buy two dampeners and can only use one without the sound.

Has anyone found a good way to soften the black 'O'? Thanks!

I did a search for 'sampras dampener' and found some people talking about softening the 'O' in a toaster oven or something heated. They say it's softer, but I didn't see reports about how it improved the play afterwards. We could give it a try... :)
