Is there anywhere we can watch the FO Men's Semis Live on Friday?

I know this comes up every year. But has NBC learned anything or are they going to stick it to us tennis fans on the West Coast once again?

From what I can tell, ESPN is barred from showing the men's semis at all. Tennis Channel is barred from showing it live and can't show the taped replay until 11pm Paris time (2pm PST).

NBC won't begin broadcasting the men's semis here on the West Coast until it's already 8pm Paris time, which means the matches will most likely already be over. Of course, once again, NBC prevents ESPN and TC from showing the matches live even though they won't be doing it themselves!

Will there be a quality free live stream on the Internet or has NBC banned those too, as they've done in the past? :???:

I see NBC's coverage begins at 11 AM on the east coast which is 5 PM in Paris. So maybe there is a chance for us at live coverage. Dick Ebersol recently resigned from NBC so maybe there will be a change soon but I would not count on it. :(

last year TC broadcast the first mens semi(Soderling-Berdych) live despite not originally scheduled to. Perhaps the same thing will happen this year.

depends on which match NBC wants to show in their coverage (I would guess Federer-Djokovic)

Coverage of tennis in the US sucks, terribly. But then you get hours on end of golf, basketball and even little league.....Do not get it, maybe is OUR fault, maybe we should start yelling to all channel managers?
I am ready, I will sign any petition.

They did the same with some WTA matches, I remember just flipping through channels and OH, can't believe it, not scheduled but shown....thank you for letting us know (especially if you want to record)......

soccertvlive.net Streams are solid. If you have a average internet connection and 3 or 4 bars on your signal it will be fine.

I'm really goddamn pissed. Apparently they get it live on TC on the East coast? Yet here in Central time we have to wait for the tape-delay. WTF. I work at 10:30...

God I hate NBC and wish they'd get out of the tennis broadcasting business.

Will catch on one of the Internet streams

No, I don't believe that's true. TC comes on at the same time for everyone. For the men's semis, that would be 5pm EST or 2pm PST. That's already 11pm in Paris so it will be on tape delay. :(

So NBC is definitely showing it delayed here in the US at 2pm EST?
No. NBC is doing their "same time IN ALL TIME ZONES" that they always do. It used to be 10am in all time zones (no matter where in the U.S. you are). Now for this FO semis, they've pushed it back to 11am IN ALL TIME ZONES. Which means when you guys are watching it at 11am on the East Coast, it'll be 8am here out West and we'll get NOTHING until 11am PST.

NBC just refuses to preempt The Today Show no matter what. :(

NBC shows about 3 hours of semi-final coverage - not enough for 1 match, let alone 2. When the 3 hours are up and the match is still going on - they say "bye-bye" and coverage ends. How in the world should they have to rights to show tennis. If you can't do it properly, then let someone else cover tennis.

It is a shame. If NBC would give it a chance, they would see their ratings improve. The French is a pretty big deal.

Maybe if tennis wasn't such a snoozefest these days, they would show tennis more often like they used to. Please God, not a Doko vs Nadal final! Tennis will be banned from all TV!

Where is the snoozefest? Gee, you Americans must have EVERYTHING fast in order to get your attention, from movies to food, to cars, to.....
Common, tennis is and always be great. I think golf is boring, or car racing (how do you focus on cars going in circles for 3hrs)?

ESPN >>>> NBC.

i remember years ago ppl complained that espn showed tennis tape delayed for the australian open. Then a lot of fans complained...and they complied.

I'm sure ppl have complained about NBC..they must not care.

what i dont understand is...if you slight tennis coverage so much that you would show it tape delayed..why show it all? Let someone else do it right.

haha, I was just about to tweet about how it's that time of the year where we get screwed from NBC on their tape delayed matches and I found this thread. Glad to know that I am not the only one that have utter disgust for NBC. God, they are just awful!!!

and we will be screwed again, for French and for Wimbledon.....unfortunately, what else is new?!

BreakPoint you dissapoint me. Clearly the only thing to do is buy a ticket to NYC and watch it while enjoying a decent bagel :)

Even on the East Coast, NBC doesn't come on the air until 5pm Paris time (11am EST). The first semi will probably be the Federer-Djokovic semi (since the bottom half of the draw has been playing a day earlier), which means even people on the East Coast will miss most, if not all, of the Federer-Djokovic semi. :(

And who really cares about the other semi anyway. ;-)

Hmm that's bad. Well, the trip is worth it just for the bagel

And I want to see Soda beat Rafa again, I've got popcorn ready :)

If you think NBC sucks (and it does) for not showing live coverage of men's SF of FO and Wimby, what about the travesty at CBS making men play SF matches the night before the USO Finals? Is there anything more ridiculous in tennis or all of sports, in pursuit of the mighty TV dollar and ratings? They almost GUARANTEE the younger finalist (Safin vs. Sampras, Hewitt vs. Sampras) will win.

You can blame the US tv audience who like the galactically stupid Super Saturday concept.

Yes, I know NYC bagels very well. I've lived in NYC for many years and used to eat 2 bagels from the street vendor every morning. :)

What time is it going to start? I'm taking a day off work to watch the semis, and I'm not doing that to watch a tape delay, lol

i don't like the "we".

users are not only you fricking americans.... handle it
Cool it bro. For years I've been reading here how the US channels screw their viewers while, say in India (where i am), we get all this on telly live (and repeated again during the day, if the live was at night, i.e., US matches).

It's really sad to see Americans hunting for livestreams, while in a developing country we get this on telly. (btw, they do show golf and car racing here too, God knows who watches it).

Yeah yeah ..we get it on STAR SPORTS....and U.S OPEN on Ten sports...And they also show Lots of micky mouse tournaments as well..ATP 500 and ATP 250...
And on ESPN they show Baseball(which no one watches)and Golf..

Ditto.I've never had to complain about the slam/Masters coverage here.Sometimes they might not show some of the smaller events but it's not like they're cut off completely.Overall, very good coverage.

Americans don't know what sport is. They only watch made for tv crap like football (the one you play with hands), basketball, baseball and ice hockey, which have a commercial break approx every 2.3 seconds.

And the average American doesn't even know a world outisde the US exists, the media here doesn't report world news and if somneone wins F1 or the Ashes, it'll be a small item on the back page while the headline is about some college game in the middle of nowhere.

Yes, sports coverage here is really frustrating since you can watch fat men play a 'sport' like golf 24/7.

BUlls EYe.. You hit the nail on the head..I am reading it for many years that americans know only about their country...They don't know anything about other countries..They won't be even knowing where afganistan is where they have bombarded ppl for years....

You can watch it in my house, the only demand I have for letting you in is that you do not root for Nadal, beers and snacks on me!

Honestly though I'd rather the coverage go to ESPN at least they make efforts to show live matches, especially the important ones. They got the Australian Open and year after year do a better job. NBC needs to stop interfering with the French and Wimbledon and let ESPN get full control. Yea we might not get every match live, but hell we will at least get half of it live and they usually let Tennis Channel cover the other half of the matches they miss. The real problem is NBC.
