Is there something unique about tennis players?

Is there something unique about tennis players? By "tennis players," I do not mean only professional players but people who see and feel playing tennis as part of their identity. I grew up playing baseball and American football in organized leagues and schools and tennis as something on the side, but I identify the most with tennis.

Certainly, not all tennis players fit the same mold, but in my 40 years of playing tennis (30 if you subtract my recent 10-year hiatus), tennis players, in the main, seem to be unique. When compared to players of other sports, tennis players seem more philosophical, more inquisitive, more idiosyncratic, more introspective, just more interesting to hang out with.

Off the top of my head, no. Everything in tennis is in ping-pong.

Chess players are the most unique.

This sound funny but it's true. It's not the players, it's the game. It is because tennis is a very chess-like sport. MMA/UFC is chess, and so is American football.
