Is Thiem potentially a tougher draw for Djoko than Maestro at USO?

I think Djokovic would have more trouble with Thiem, yes. But Nadal would probably have more trouble with Fed.

Yes. Federer is Djokovic's Slam pigeon. No question about it. Djokovic would love to have Federer in his side of the draw. ;)

I very much agree to that!
And it’s more players than Thiem I believe to be a tougher matchup than Fed for Novak at this point in USO.

Potentially. But Thiem's been such a wild card this year. Last year's QF with Rafa came out of nowhere, we'd never seen him play that well outside of RG...and still haven't.

So it depends on which Thiem shows up.

Before hard court season I thought Thiem was the biggest threat for Djokovic, but he almost didn't play on hard court and was ill. He probably lost a bit of weight. I'd say he will be the 2019 Wimbledon's Kevin Anderson of this USO. I would rather have Medvedev as seed #4. IMO drawing Thiem is the best way to face one more time the weaker player of the semis.

OP, you are looking at the problem from the wrong angle: you are asking the wrong question.

The valid problem as far as the tennis authorities are concerned is: who are the main threats to the most desired final, and in what order, so that we can make their draw most difficult?

At RG the clear answer was Thiem, the desired final was Nadal-Djokovic and subsequently Thiem was "awarded" the hellish draw that he had. The unfortunate effect form Thiem eliminating Djokovic was that he was absolutely gassed in the final, but by then the tournament has cashed in and it was still the second best scenario.

What are you suggesting will happen at USO?

About rigged draws. So many things are fishy about those draws. But when it comes to the seedings I don't believe it was rigged in this year's RG. Teddy Riner was picking the seeds in the cup, I watched it live. I don't see RG making a fraud involving Teddy Riner. Why would this dude be part of something like this ?
