Is this all but a dream?

I have to pinch myself to make sure this has really happened. Im still in a state of shock! What a year this is turning out to be. Who wouldve imagined at the start of the year with all the drama in australia over the hotel quarantine fiasco that we would be here at the conclusion of wimbledon and novak would have equalled the slam record!

How about you guys? Are you guys finding it hard to actually believe this is real? It all feels surreal!

What part of the year is so hard to believe??? Seems like lots of people were expecting things to more or less go this way.
Well it didnt start off very well in australia. He had a lot of negative publicity over his letter to the tennis chief regarding hotel quarantine. Then he had the injury against fritz etc.
And of course rafa was looking to surpass the slam record at this years rg so he was heavy favourite there.

i think it’s (relatively) easy, now that it has happened, to say that it was clear Novak would win the first three slams of the year. But that required a combination of a lot of luck and a very high consistency for a player at 34 years of age. The equivalent years were 2015 for Federer and 2020 for Nadal and neither came even close to something like this.

Any injury Novak had seems to have been minor, the quarantine nonsense had little to do with what goes on in matches, and Rafa has long been somewhat fraile physically so his losing at FO shouldn't be all that shocking. Are we stunned that Novak wins several consecutive slams?? Hasn't he done that several times already?

Novak desire to keep improving at all aspects of his game despite the many setbacks always screamed unlimited potential to me. In the end it wasn't a question of if but when.

Wrong comparison. The ages of competitors are completely different

Djokovic is dealing with a very young group of talented players who are good but not great

Federer dealt with ATG and co GOAT Djoker

It wasn’t Novak that stopped Federer from even attempting the CYGS in 2015. In Fed’s case he lost that year at the AO in the third round to Seppi. So ATGs and Co GOATs had no bearing whatsoever on Fed’s CYGS probabilities when he was 34

To put this into perspective, between the age of 30 and 34, Federer won 1 slam (Fed's longevity? What longevity?) , Nadal won 6 slams (truly impressive for such a precocious wonder) and Djoko has already won 8 (and he'll play 2 more slams before turning 35).
At the age of 34, Federer won 1 master (pitiful), Nadal won 1 slam and 1 master whereas Djoko has already won 2 slams and he'll be 34 until end of May next year!!!! o_O

RG was clearly a surprise. The other slams seemed to be his as long as he was healthy and it seemed he didn't need to be too healthy in AO to take it.
Also amazing is that he doesn't appear to be affected by the pressure. His nerves and mental game are probably the most solid of anyone in the tennis world.

The big surprise for me is that he beat Nadal like that, coming off a 0-5, unbelievable.

That game changed history.
His Wimbledon 2018 comeback Slam changed history that elevated him to reach the other 2's records IMO. Just like his Wimbledon 2014 victory elevated him to start being part of the conversation.

In both scenarios, Djokovic went from a deflated previous version of himself to an unbeatable super efficient version that simply doesn't lose.

In both scenarios, Federer failed to stop him in his tracks. At Wimbledon 2014 epic 5-set Final and 2018 choke vs. Anderson in QF while he was having the best start of season of his career.

You already know im good lol, trying to make what's going on exciting though is pretty hilarious 8-B even some Ultronians have admitted Wimby wasn't entertaining.
With rafa and thiem pulling out it was never going to be as good to start off with. But i agree it wasnt the best rendition of wimbledon. However, lets get excited about the us open :) woohoo

If we get some epic matches and Nadal slaying in an epic kit, the wings will be out :p
