Is this how a depleted and declined Djokovic perform?

I always wonder the mental edge and physicality which Djokovic still possess, if those are depleted or declined, how will his matches look and I think perfect example is Ao 2018 match against Chung. It was 3 close sets where in current circumstances Djokovic would have won with mental toughness and ability to give nothing in tiebreaks but in this match he basically was error prone and looked limited. I think he was returning from an elbow injury which can be a good reason. Backhand down the line was completely invisible.

Pretty decent match from my perspective. His main issue here is confidence. Making 10 DF, and always checking your elbow, receipt for disaster. I only see him losing a match if opponent plays great and wins first two sets. Can someone do that, we will see in two months.

The pace and precision on both his forehand and serve in that match are leagues below where they are now. I think it's that simple. If his shots get worse, he'll lose more often. The same is true for every player in the history of the sport. Right now his shots are trending in the opposite of that direction, though.

Problem is this generation are a bunch of chokers. In theory yes. They’re like half his age almost, they should whip him but mentally they are small children still. Djoker doesn’t need to be 2011 form to whip these jokes next year in slams. He just needs a light schedule. Few tournaments and peak for slams at the right time

If this Djoker was up against the field of 10-15 years ago. I would agree he’s in trouble. But not against this crap. Every gen that passes the weaker they are are mentally. It’s why Djoker (if he chooses) will be winning slams into his 40s if he’s still playing that is

Nation to seduce? Think Djokovic is going to get the most hostile crowds we've seen in tennis. Will make Medvedev at that US Open look like cheers.
There is a big Serbian community in AO and there were big protests against the draconian rule in Melbourne. Novak will have plenty of support.

AO is the happy Slam and has the best and fair crowds.

Novak is also good friend with Kyrgios, so that will be a boost for him, especially in the media.

Maybe at times there will be a negative edge, particularly if he's playing an Aussie, but if he is dominant I expect the crowd will eventually get behind him. He always speaks well in on court and post match interviews which will help to soften the atmosphere.

Chatting to people who play tennis in Melbourne, I find a lot of them feel the government was equally culpable for this year's prison-break ****show and they feel Djokovic has been vindicated and the correct decision has been made to let him in, even if many still think he is a tool.

I see a similar defeat coming for him this AO. He’s been flattering to deceive in a weak, tired end of year field.
Nadal managed to get eliminated on the second day against this "weak and tired" field

And he doesn't even have the tired excuse because he barely played since Wimbledon

Why do think the gens are getting weaker?

(for real question)

Well 8-10 plus years ago they were challenging and beating a much younger, better, more primed Big 3 in slams. Fast forward 10 plus years later and Nadal/Djokovic essentially a shell of their former selves are still mopping up all the slams. Bar Carlos of course who kind of lucked out with no Djokovic/Zverev at the Open. A new generation should have already taken over 2-3 years ago at least. If Fed didn't have knee issues and was a few years younger, he would be mopping up slams with Nadal/Djokovic too whipping on all these youngers. I wouldn't be surprised if Nadal/Djokovic mopped up the next 8 slams. LOL

They are not very hungry for glory after earning too much money at a very young age.
And, if they don't listen to those who know, complacency takes hold that prevents them from evolving in their game.
What is currently happening to Tsitsipas, for example.

Do you really think complacency is Stef's problem? He has crazy parents and they are holding him back

One of them, but undoubtedly, the Greek has not taken the necessary step to get out of the paternal yoke, to take risks and follow his own path, without intermediaries.
Will he?

Do you want Djokovic to win the AO? Because that's how you get Djokovic to win the AO
I don't really care if he wins or not, i'm just saying that I honestly don't believe the crowd will be at all kind. If that motivates him as you say then so be it. Doesn't change that I think the crowd will boo the **** out of him.
