I was thinking of putting "Major final" in the title, but let's open it up. If you can think of any worse final that went 5 sets, I'd be interested to know!

Wimbledon 2019 was pretty meh besides the blown match points

AO 2009 had a really lame 5th set

AO 2012 was a huge borefest

I'm sure Murray has some mug matches that don't even register in my memory

Sascha lost this match. He looks broken and he should. Up two sets and a break and a break again and serving for it in the 5th. Up a mini break in the tiebreak and he couldn’t do it.

I only saw half of it (the 2nd set, the second half of the 4th and all of the 5h set), but I enjoyed what I saw. So many people were negative about the level of play, but this is a grand slam final for two relatively unexperienced grand slam players (compared to the players we're used to seeing in GS finals). These guys are full of nerves. A GS final isn't a place to showcase your top level of play, but it's about mentality and fighting your way through to victory. At the end of the day, why do we watch tennis? For entertainment purposes, right? You're not going tell me that this final wasn't entertaining. I'm always critical of the younger players but I'm proud of them and personally the final couldn't have ended in a better way for me. A tiebreak in the fifth with Thiem winning? Are you joking? I couldn't have written it any better.

I am here to tell you that this final was not entertaining. Just like the Zverev-PCB semi, each player took turns to play poorly. The 5th set was competitive, but both players spoiled the ending by choking like crazy when they each served for the match. The quality of the tennis in the last four games and the TB was really bad for a major ATP tournament final and no one wanted to take this match - they kept waiting for the other guy to hand it to them.

Want proof that this match was not entertaining? I fell asleep in the afternoon early in the fourth set and woke up midway through the 5th. That’s never happened to me during a Slam final at least in the last 15 years.

Sometimes if I really don’t give a fig who wins, I need something really special to stay awake. This was not special. The most exciting match in this tournament was Tsitsipas/Coric but that was also a major choke situation. The quality of tennis was not great in this tournament: period. Hopefully they are just rusty after such a long break and it will get better.

It felt like they had both resigned to losing the match, with one being physically broken and the other being a just-tired coward.

Great players feel like they are champions even before they’ve won anything and that’s why they usually win Slams early. It seems like no one has that mentality amongst the young players - did the Big3 bludgeon this belief out of the Nextgen like they did the previous Lost gen or do none of them have the cojo.es to be a worthy champion?

Crowd could have lightened up the atmosphere!

The US Open final between Murray and Djokovic in 2012 was the dullest I've seen.

It was especially disappointing when you consider their semifinal in Australia earlier that year was so thrilling.
