Is TRU PRO (formerly Tier One Sports) Black Knight worth trying?

Your elbow too?? I was starting to think it was just me... My BK setups were the only ones that I had to cut out due to the pain. The rest I kept in till I broke em

May I ask what other setups you have played until you broke them without having any pain? The reason for asking is since Black Knight ranks on the rather "less stiff" end of the spectrum for polys, if you can give lab tests any credibility (which we believe you can).

In comparison (USRSA Lab test results):
  • Black Knight 17g (1.23mm): String Stiffness: 197 (lbs/in), Tension Loss: 15.39 (lbs)
  • Babolat RPM Blast 1.26mm: Stiffness: 273 (lbs/in), Tension Loss: 17.13 (lbs)
  • Luxilon Alu Power 1.25mm: Stiffness: 242 (lbs/in), Tension Loss: 17.13 (lbs)
  • Head Lynx Edge 1.25mm: Stiffness: 181 (lbs/in), Tension Loss: 21.59 (lbs)
  • Yonex Poly Tour Spin 1.25mm: Stiffness: 212 (lbs/in), Tension Loss: 15.41(lbs)
  • Tecnifibre Black Code 4 1.22mm: Stiffness: 199 (lbs/in), Tension Loss: 17.42 (lbs)
  • MSV Focus-Hex 1.27mm: Stiffness: 220 (lbs/in), Tension Loss: 16.45 (lbs)
  • Luxilon 4g 1.24mm: Stiffness: 249 (lbs/in), Tension Loss: 13.30 (lbs)

Sure, I have used:

Yonex Poly tour (both blue and black) mains with sensation
PTP/NXT
PTP/Silk pro
Element/NXT
Element/X-1
Alu/syn gut (Dynawire and Wilson)
Alu/NXT
Alu/Silk Pro

Let me know if I can provide any additional information

I also used 16 gauge 128 BK is that makes a big difference

Great! Thanks for the feedback. Yes, now this makes a bit more sense. It appears that most of your setups are hybrids with multis. That will certainly add arm-friendliness. From our product line a similar setup would be:

Durafluxx 17g/Triumph

Sorry to digress into my own question, hope it's okay. I am experimenting with a shaped poly main / softer round poly cross hybrids

For cross i know ghost wire should be the answer, but for main would like to know, that if I am liking confidential (and i tried tour bite once and quite like the crispiness too) what would be the recommendation? BK or Tour Status?

How do USRSA lab test results look for Tour Status and GW, just for reference so that i can compare with BK above?

Thanks!

Not sure if this has been asked before but is there a way to reduce the break-in period of BK 17?

I've been playing with BK17 and absolutely loved it but really dislike the first 1.5 hours where it feels boardy and stiff. After that it plays fantastic. Wondering if using 18 gauge in the cross will help? anybody has experience with that?

Maybe not what you want to hear. Add GW 17 crosses. Removes some of the plasticy feeling and is playable immediately.

Do 1.5 hours of serving practice after each restring, your serve will greatly benefit as well

I've been playing with Alu Power for about 15 years now. I've tried about 25 different poly's and nothing even comes close to it. But I never tried Tier One's Black Knight. There aren't too many reviews out there of this string and I was wondering how it compares to Alu Power? Can anyone out there tell me how these two compare in terms of power, spin, feel and playability duration?
Maybe Weiss Cannon Silverstring is good one to try. I consider it a "baby Luxilon Alu Power"

I played Black Knight today. Nice string, not as stiff as the initial posts in this thread. I can see it in the 180s of stiffness. Good pop, control and spin.
As people have said: it gives you what you put in.

Really didn't notice a break in period, I actually find tensions dropping fast. (Almost 2 hours of hitting tension based on racquet tune went from 46 to 42, originally strung at 50)

It's also very muted, so there are shot where you wouldn't know what happened. Gonna keep playing this to see if it gets better as people have mentioned or stays the same

Hey TennisManiac, Did you stick with BN or go back to Alu Power? How long before BN goes harsh?
