Isner Houston Rocket serve record

Legend
John Isner nails a 146 mph ace at the US Men’s Clay Court Championship in Houston, which is said to be the fastest serve ever fired at the historic River Oaks Country Club. Isner hit a 149 mph serve at the 2011 Cincinnati Masters event. Ivo Karlovic owns the fastest recorded serve at 156 mph, but he hit that blast during a Davis Cup tie, which is an ITF event. Milos Raonic hit the second fastest serve at 155.3 mph at the 2012 Rogers Cup.

"I did?" Isner asked the Houston Chronicle when informed of the River Oaks record. "Wow. I'm feeling pretty good. Nothing is bothering me, and that's a good sign. I feel like I'm doing the right things to give myself these opportunities. It's encouraging."

This is great news! We know how well John has been playing this week and to add to that his humungous serve is back to almost full pace this level of play is going to be very difficult for anyone to cope with come the majors! The pace, movement and bounce that John extracts mean that he can literally take the racket out of his opponents hands and no matter who he is playing he pretty much decides the outcome of the match.
This is big man tennis at its best!

all the Houston country club have to do to help sir john of isner reach the final and prepare him for winning the French open..is to prepare some lightning fast clay where even one stroke rallies are almost impossible

then the wizard of izzner can capitalise on all out attack on this new lightning fast clay, and claim the title as his opponent lies devastated eating dirt on the other side of the court..

"Ivo Karlovic owns the fastest recorded serve at 156 mph"

I thought some Aussie hit one in the low 160's a few years ago....

Samuel Groth hit a 163 mph serve, but there is some controversy as to the accuracy of that reading because it was during a challenger event and not an ATP tour event.
