BREAKING: John Isner pulls out of the Australian Open with a knee injury.

"Doctors have told me that continuing to play on the knee could result in a more serious injury." - John Isner

We wish you a speedy recovery!

AO on facebook:

Wishing John Isner a speedy recovery from the knee injury that has sidelined him from Australian Open 2013.

Here's what John Had to say about his withdrawal:

"I am extremely disappointed to announce that I have to withdraw from the Australian Open. I have been feeling some discomfort in my knee and have recently learned that I have a bone bruise.

"My doctors have told me that continuing to play on the knee could result in a more serious injury, so I have regrettably decided not to compete in Melbourne and use the time to fully recover."

As per the usual Fedfart logic on this forum, Isner must be doping and is going to serve out a silent ban.

Damn, Big John had the potential to take out Djokovic on a good day if he drew him.

Just when it looked good when Fish and Isner were near top 10... its all going downhill for american men from there :(
Fish indefinitely out with his health issues..
Querry unable to get back his prime form.. again after his freak injury
Now, Isner... even before this injury his form was terrible..

Honestly, didn't your mom teach you "If you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all."??? Grow up. Take care John. Hope you recover and come back ASAP!

wait what why did you quote me i didn't say anything that mean @_@?
if i sounded mean my apologies i honestly wish the best for john

Someone put the kaibosh on American tennis! Can't catch a break lately.

bummer. he did not look very good in his two or three matches this year. hopefully he recovers fast.

He's actually clear 2nd favourite and has been since winning USO.

Quite possibly but I was going by the official seedings. There is or was nobody with a better chance than Murray of winning this year's AO with the exception of Djokovic and possibly Federer.

:)

Fair enough mate, but favourites, by definition, are determined by bookmakers. ;)

Who do you fancy in the draw? I'd probably like Roger's half, with Tsonga in QFs and Simon in R4. I think that Isner's withdrawal means that he can't now draw Janowicz in R3.

If i was murray, id probably take Djokovic half Since you have to beat him anyway. A semi might be easier and theres also more chance fed is upset Along the way. Why tsonga over tipsy btw?

It's a toss up for me Joeri - I thought along the lines you outline but to be honest, if Roger's on his game then it's the devil or the deep blue see from Murray's prespective.

Why Tsonga? Check out Murray's H2H with Tipsy. He's never an easy match for Murray.

Didn't know about that h2h batz. Makes sense, although I always think this is a great slam for Tsonga. He does well here usually. With a Final and a semi already before it's the place he's been most succesfull.

Urgh. Looks like so many people climbed on the bandwagon that it collapsed under the weight. :???:

Oh well, that pretty much confirms my jinx effect on players. I will now begin taking donations from '****s of all denominations who want me to support their favourite's big rival.

Fake injury or silent ban? What's the choice for Big John?

I think I see a connection... :???:

I like John. He's a wrestling fan like me. :)

I hope he gets well soon. It's always a loss when a potentially dangerous player pulls out. Players that can cause upsets always add that special road block element in paths of the elite players.

Really?, mmm... I think I'd still take Tipsy over Tsonga any day.

I'm sorry. Did I miss the part where John went missing for 6 months?

You sure don't sound like you've ever followed sports before.

.

He's played both of them 8 times. He's 7-1 v Jo and 5-3 v Tipsy. He last lost to Jo 5 years ago, he last lost to Janko a couple of weeks ago (albeit in a meaningless exho).

Tipsarevic has never made it past the third round so maybe Tsonga is more realistic anyway. I still wouldn't rate Tipsarevic much of a chance at all.

The temperature and conditions in Melbourne at the moment make me wonder if they should hold a tournament at all

Question: Would someone else be seeded because of this? Or because the seedings are determined already they'll put an alternate or LL?

Has he lost to Tipsy in any important event?. Tsonga is just so much more a dangerous player... he's taken Fed out. Who has Tipsy taken out in a slam?.
