Isospeed cream or TRU PRO ghost wire?

It seems that TW is always out of stock with isospeed cream in 17G. I signed up for the "notify me" option, but when the date approached, it changed to a later date.

Im thinking that ghost wire would be a comparable "soft" poly and easier to obtain from what i have read.
Has anyone compared both strings? Which one is softer? Has better tension maintenance? More durable? I couldnt find a stiffness rating for ghost wire to compare against cream's "178" stiffness rating.

Will be using this in a hybrid setup with gut in a phantom pro 100

Hard to give a substantive opinion at this time since the string just came out... just found out myself that the string became available for purchase, so Im going to order some sets in different gauges today. Going to try the 1.10mm with Lux natural gut on the phantom 93p and the 17 gauge on my wife’s phantom 100.

Be interested in the results. Always looking for soft smooth polys to use as crosses with gut in my 93 p. Cream isn’t always easy to find as the OP mentioned. So having a list of alternatives is necessary.

Right now I’ve got some Proline II I’m going to try.

My arm and I are still having a major disagreement about how much we like poly, so soft is the current compromise.

if u enjoy soft muted low powered feel, give YPTP or SPPP a try...they should be similar to proline II...i feel like cream has so much power...

Just for kicks, put cream 1.28 and GW 1.23 53/51 on an old LM 4.

Feels friggin great! Comfortable, consistent, smooth, great snap back, fairly powerful.

Realized how much I had been missing out only doing Cream as a cross.

Doesn't a too thin gauge eat through the gut?

for the most part yes, but in this case it was a pretty dense 18x20 pattern on a mid sized frame so it lasted a decent while before breaking. If I remember correctly it broke around 9-10 hour mark. I would imagine it would break sooner on a more open pattern like a 16x19 frame.

FWIW I liked GW better than Cream. It felt softer and more forgiving to me.

Cream felt plasticky feel to me, and was surprisingly a bit harsh on off center hits.

In fairness it could have been me. I only tried Cream the one time. And as i recall, the first time out with it was a cold night inside a bubbled clay court - which could have explained the perceived harshness on off center hits.

I am going to try out GW.

Ok but i live in Europe.. hope it is possible. I like Cream a lot but not other Polys or Copolys in general.. used to use multi. Wonder how similar GW is to Cream..

Does anyone notice a big difference in playability between the 1.28 and 1.23 gauge on cream?
I only use cream with gut as mains.

Try the UK tennis shops like S********W**** that’s where I got mine. Also have a look at RIP

Thanks Happi found it. But do you think i will like it? Is it very similar to Cream that i like ?

I really can tell, I have taken so many good advices here from TT boards only to find I out that I did not agres with the posters. I have a very sensitive arm, and I tried a lot of strings. To me Cyber Flash is the one that I can play without problems in a full bed. I still have a lot of strings to try. GW is for sure soft, but just try it out - it’s really the only esy. I would throw in a pack of cheap CF 17L and try that too.

I have only played with cream 1.28 as a cross and although I like the feel its durability was quite average for me. I played a lot in carpet last summer and I managed to wear the cream to the point that it became very thin and snapped before the mains. Very strange, I am guessing it’s because of the sand but still.... would be interesting to know whether someone has had this happen to them on clay. Main was biphase 1.30 and racquets were vantages 95 16x19.

Isospeed cream plays fine, but I cant stand the metallic ping it makes upon contact. Takes all pleasure out of making solid contact.

Cream is an amazing string. My arm is still too sensitive....That's why i play it with Gut mains.

Interesting! How long does playability last?
Well, it was put on a "visiting friends and family" racket that I don't use myself.

Just pulled it out today and the 2 strings move so easily on each other.

Gw as a cross has good tension maintenance but it does cut mains pretty fast. I do have a gut/poly dubs frame that is ready to break, so could try this combo out on that restring.

nope, cream crosses always break first with velocity mains
Good to know. And does it break in the way I described or through notching? (I know there’s a fairly large velocity/cream thread which probably has the answer to all my questions)

Even Gut?

cream flattens out before it breaks
no notching

Good to kmow, im going to order some ghostwire and give it a shot and use as crosses with nat gut mains.

Been a cream user for last few years, but quite annoyed that TW is the only place thag sells it stateside and that its on backorder more often than not

Which gauge do you use? 123 or 128? which one do you favor?

I use the 16L(1.28) and my dad uses 17(1.23) in his hybrid respectively. I've tried both and i prefer the 16L, I haven't had a problem with them breaking in a cross setup and thats teaching 40 hours a week on court+ hitting. The 17g to me is a tad more powerful

You can get it for a pretty good price. I got mine for ~8 for a set with free shipping a while back.

Side note: are you still with Black Bear Tennis?

I would like to use one of these 2 , cream or GW, on the cross (it's gonna be the triax on main ), i'm about to order it, but before that, need advices, the most arm friendly and good in spin between theses 2 ? Cream or GW ? thank you !
