Isospeed Cream vs Other Polys

My go-to string for a while has been Isospeed Cream. Are there any polys that have comparable tension maintenance and are around the same or softer (even better) for someone looking for a good transition poly? Thanks!

Man I looked at the isospeed cream specs they look like something I would like. Solinco Revolutions are good control, exceptional spin, soft (maybe not as soft but they didn't ever feel very stiff even off the stringer) and lasted me until I notched them badly (3.5weeks or so).. I strung my Solinco's low 50's you could probably go lower and get a little more power and comfort but they held up well. Maybe I'm wrong but check out some customer comments I felt the same as others do about these. I think the control and feel is good so the honeymoon seems to last a bit longer and they settle in slowly not a big drop in playability.

I'm doing a string tour right now but the revolutions have and are my favorites thus far of the full poly setups I've done. (YPTP, Cyclone19g, BHB7, Lux BBR, RPM). So so many more to try though. Wilson Revolve is interesting and now these Iso Creams as well.

I don't know of a transition string that plays softer than Cream. Silverstring is soft but not as soft as cream and spin is lacking. YPTP 1.20mm has better control and spin than Cream but is a little firmer.

What are your specific issues with the tension maintenance? Dropping to fast to quick? What is your tension...Frame? Swing style. Big hitter?
The more info the better...
We are not mind readers here..just helps us help you with some options....

Basically softer copolys will lose tension fast than firmer copolys.
But hopefully as your know, coploys have a short life in the stringbed period.
There will always be some give and take with finding a good copolys that works for you.
If you seek a longer stringbed life and better tension maintenance , be open to mono core (polyamide) sync gut string that are a bit stiffer for sync gut.
You can also so a hybrid with one, that will prolong the life of your soft copoly and help with tension maintenance.

But if you like Cream a lot , and you just want better tension maintenance with another soft copoly...will be tough.
You may find one that has slightly better tension maintenance, but may not play as well for you...
But hey, there are certainly an increase in softer copolys out there ....
You can use the TWU string database to location a list of softer copolys.
TW also lists Head Sonic Pro and PolyFibre TSC as soft copolys
Also many of the Double AR strings are pretty soft also. Which I like and have used.

I have found Cream to play well. But the packs that I got make an annoying pinging sound that I dont enjoy. I use it anyway because it feels ok. Just wish it did not have that sound

IMHO this is the problem - other soft poly based strings struggle when it comes to tension maintenance.

Ever used RSLyon? I'd love to see how that compares to Cream.
I've used both RS Lyon and Cream although both as poly crosses with gut mains. RS Lyon is firmer, has better control and is noticeably lower powered. Cream is easier on the arm and gives you more free power.

Ok nice info. Spin is about the same on both? I think RS still sounds like the winner for me.

Spin is decent/good for both for RS and Cream. My personal opinion is that the harder the hitter, the better RS will be. Cream stands out in terms of comfort though.

I wasn't very impressed with Cream. It was stiffer than I thought it would be and didn't have great spin or feel.

A string that felt very similar was Big Hitter Blue

I am playing a full bed in my POG OS at 55 lbs and I really like it. I also have a bed (another POG OS) of volkl syngut crosses and cream ma9ns and that feels even better. Unless it hures my arm I will probably go with a full bed once I run out of syngut. And I never play with polys

Did you think cream was a good string as a cross with gut mains? I love the alu power rough but find it hard on the arm....

I played with VS17/Cream last summer. Loved it. Played awesome for about 20hrs and then it started doing some odd things like have erratic launch angles. Not sure if maybe moisture got to it or normal loss in tension, but it seemed to start gaining more power. I couldn't play with it any more.

Cream worked well as a cross since it holds tension very well.

I LOVE gut/Alu also for performance, the crisp feel, spin, control, dynamic movement of the ball, etc.
However it is a stiff setup compared to gut/Cream which is about the softest gut/poly setup you will find.
I personally prefer gut/Yonex poly tour pro (Yptp) which gives me very good spin and control while being more arm friendly than gut/Alu.

Gut/ALU = Ferrari 488
Gut/Yptp = Mercedes SL550
Gut/Cream = Lexus LS500

no. isospeed cream is unrivaled in that regard, at least to my knowledge. and i play exclusively with soft polys yptp, völkl v-star, völkl cyclone tour etc.

@Hansen like you, I only use softer polys Cyclone Tour 1.30mm lasts about 30 days in a 16x19 Pure Aero or Pure Drive before snapping for 4.0 guys.

I find 1.25mm Cyclone Tour to be pure garbage due to pathetic tension maintenance but the 1.30mm Cyclone Tour plays great. I have never seen one string in two different gauges play so vastly different. Been using Cyclone Tour 1.30mm for over four years.

Cream 1.28mm feels soft when stringing it and when playing, but Cyclone Tour 1.30mm provides more spin. Any poly that does not hurt my elbow when playing three days a week and lasts 30 day is keeper.

When I read Cyclone Tour doesn't hold tension, I rarely see anyone post what gauge they are writing about. I have reels and packs of Cream 1.28mm and four reels of Cyclone Tour 1.30mm Since I string more frames with CT than any other poly. I have reels of Lux Alu Power, Wilson Revolve, Firewire 1.30mm, Head Hawk & Hawk Touch in 1.25mm and reels of Solinco Revolution and Hyoer G... 1.25mm and 1.30mn in both strings l.

One guy ordered a reel of 1.25 mm Cyclone Tour after I told him to order 1.30mm due to tension issues with 1.25mm. After realizing how poor the 1.25mm CT was, he asked me to use my 1.30mm CT his frame and use his 1.25mm for some other clients. [emoji107] I told him to throw his reel in the garbage and he needed to find a new stringer. I don't need clients like that. never strung another frame for him.

That's interesting, because the data in the TW String Performance Database suggests that tension maintenance of CT 1.25 and 1.30 is not very different (although 1.30 is a bit better). But there is apparently a big difference in tension maintenance between Solinco Revolution 1.25 and 1.30. Have you noticed anything?

The difference between 1.25mm and 1.30mm Cyclone Tour is night and day, with the 1.30mm staying payable at least 3X longer.

I can't speak to the playability difference between 1.25mm vs 1.30mm Solinco Revolution or Hyoer G, but I have reels of all four that I use for clients.

The 1.30mm Hyoer G is former 5.0 player's Ai98 with Head Hawk 1.25mm crosses, and he still breaks the 1.30 Hyoer G in about 15 hours. He breaks the 1.25 Hyoer G mains around 10 hours.

Another 4.0 guy gets 1.30 Revolution mains as he plays 4+ times a week and uses a Wilson Steam 99S with a 16x15 pattern. The 1.30mm Revolution in his mains and 1.25mm Revolution crosses lasts him longer than anything he likes. The 99S is a string eater. Lux 4G was a no go for him in 1.30 and 1.25mm gauges.

I don't care what any database reports, give me a reel of 1.25mm Cyclone Tour and I will donate it. I will never string a clients frames with that string. It is that bad.

How would you compare it to YPPT? Softer more arm friendly? Powerful? The feeling of the string?

I'm not impressed, either. Quite stiff.

I think Big Hitter Black 7 is more arm-friendly, grabs the ball more and offers better spin. Dunlop Black Widow is pretty similar.

Try Weiss CANNON Silverstring.[/QUOTE

I gambled and purchased a reel of Silverstring due to glowing reviews from forum members. After one hitting session with a new racquet, I was not impressed, and I am a Weiss Cannon fanboy. I added some weight to the racquet, so I will give it another shot.

I’m a huge isospeed fan love pro 17 and control classic . Was really dying to try cream as I was hoping for that sweet butter cream feel, but I couldn’t feel it. I wanted to love this but didn’t .

Hard to find anything that beats the isospeed pro classic. It is a hidden gem, my main setup is nat gut mains and isospeed pro classic cross.

I am experimenting with a lot of different multis (for outdoor clay when wet and cant use my normal setup), so far HDX tour is a winner, but still have a lot to try.

So far have not found a poly that I like, too stiff for me, even v-torgue, hyper G, Cream, Silverstring, yppt, Black Widow. The most arm friendly and softest poly I tried was Head Sonic Pro 17 and cyberflash 17L.

Agreed with everything you said here . Tried all those too and still too stiff
