If he was well enough to go on court, he was well enough to compete.
Great, Nadal wasn't injured in the clay season last year, or at US Open last year.
The only tournament he was injured for was Wimbledon.
If he was well enough to go on court, he was well enough to compete.
Nope, he wouldn't have because Nadal plays NOTHING like Roddick, he defends much better and he's much more patient in long rallies. Rafa is a bad matchup for Tipsy but Tipsy seems to come to life whenever he sees Roddick across the netThe way that Tipsarevic played against Roddick tonight he would have taken out Nadal if he had played Nadal instead of Roddick.
Once again, that proves nothing. What is it about the concept of matchup that you cannot comprehend????Um....Istomin just beat Gabashvilli at the Pilot Pen last week.
Baghs is not even in Rafa's half. He was in Djoko's quarter. Gulbis was about the weakest guy in Rafa's quarter. Chardy is actually more dangerous.LOL, what happened those "in form" players Bags and the dangerous Gulbis????? Cakewalk draw for Rafa.
Once again, that proves nothing. What is it about the concept of matchup that you cannot comprehend????
Oh yeah? Like starting a troll thread about "yeah Istomin is gonna upset Nadal, super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is NICE in any way???? Believe me I am SUPER nice. If I spoke my "real" mind about the kind of anti-Nadal buffoons starting that kind of crass threads (or relishing it), it would come out a teeny bit nastier :twisted:Whats with your attitude towards people!? I know you are from New York but seriously, try to be nicer ok?

I agree that the thread is ridiculous but still, you really should try to be nicer, its degrading when you talk/write to someone as if they were 8 years old.
Well thats how I feel about all the Fed-haters as well. But i am not degrading to people
Dude...what are you talking about!? You CONSTANTLY personally insult people on this board. You have to be one of the nastiest posters I've seen on any forum. Telling people they are mean or degrading? Talk about a pot and kettle situation, geez.
Lay off V, it's funny how some Fed fans just can't stand a Nadal fan who has the audacity to voice their opinion and not "back down".
So you admit that Federer is a far superior and talented tennis player than Nadal, but just that Nadal is a "bad matchup" for Federer?Once again, that proves nothing. What is it about the concept of matchup that you cannot comprehend????
Federer knows how to get off the court quicker than Nadal. So you admit that Federer is a far superior and talented tennis player than Nadal, but just that Nadal is a "bad matchup" for Federer?
OK, I now understand.
That's because Federer knows how to play tennis better than Nadal.Federer knows how to get off the court quicker than Nadal.

You know what, V gets a bit aggressive at times, but honestly it's hard not to. I have seen posters wish for Nadal to die, or break his knee, or get horribly injured. How many I hope Fed dies or gets badly posts can you find? There is nothing that Nadal does that justifies so much hatred. Sometimes a player pisses you off, and that's fine, but need to spew so much hate. People sit around hoping for and cheering on the idea that Nadal permanently damages his knee. Then they come and talk about how much they love tennis and blah blah blah. But i guess that's how most online forums are.
And how many posts can you find wishing for Nadal to get injured? Very few.
I like to think so but then again it's probably just wishful thinking.
In any case, he's got the weapons and if he's in a good day + some luck + required mental fortitude might maybe, i don't know, produce something close to a win in R2.
Goooo Denis!!!! For the win!!
Leave him alone!
He suffers from HeadInRafasButtitis--It's a serious condition!
I hope not. I want to see Nadal reach the final so Rodge can get his hands on him here.
I know that's too much to ask from Nadal tho.
This IS a Nadal thread, proving you wrong immediately. With some obvious exceptions, I hardly think that is the case. Veroniquem trolls around on every Federer thread possible, it's not about being a Nadal fan.
Nadal is both the best player in absolute terms (that's why he is #1) and a bad matchup for Fed.So you admit that Federer is a far superior and talented tennis player than Nadal, but just that Nadal is a "bad matchup" for Federer?
OK, I now understand.
Nadal is both the best player in absolute terms (that's why he is #1) and a bad matchup for Fed.
He doesn't need to remind people what his initials are. Everyone knows it already...You don't see Nadal's apparel having an "N" sewed to them do you? "F" is for Fed, and Fed > Nadal.
He reached #1 because of how well he played: 3 master titles and 2 slam titles. He reached number 1 so swiftly because he missed the middle of last season. He wasn't suddenly better than Roger after Roland Garros because of the numbers.
He reached #1 because of how well he played: 3 master titles and 2 slam titles.
Hmmm.....is that why Nadal has never made even a single US Open final while Federer has made 6 in a row and won 5 in a row?Nadal is both the best player in absolute terms (that's why he is #1) and a bad matchup for Fed.
Hmmm.....is that why Nadal has never made even a single US Open final while Federer has made 6 in a row and won 5 in a row?
He's dominated clay since 2005, and won a Wimbledon that was massively underwhelming, and seriously weakened once Federer was knocked out. Sure, he's had a great season, but he had a better one in 2008 and didn't go to number 1 so quickly. Poor form from Roger, and a lack of points to defend for Rafa helped him climb to the top as much as good play did.
Being #1 right now doesn't mean that you're the best player on the tour. It just means that you earned more points. That's how both Safina and Jankovic were ranked #1.Nadal has definitely had the best results over the course of this season. That means he is the best player in the world right now, correct? Not saying he is the favorite for this tournament..but Nadal is the clear #1 right now.
No that's why Nadal is #1 with 8 slam titles at just 24, 2 RG-W back to back, slam titles on all 3 surfaces and 18 master shields + an Olympic title. He has to keep something exciting for the second part of his career, no? That will be the USO title maybe...Hmmm.....is that why Nadal has never made even a single US Open final while Federer has made 6 in a row and won 5 in a row?
You're not gonna earn the most points if you're not the best. You earn the most points by winning the most matches and to win the most matches, you have to be the best, sorry.Being #1 right now doesn't mean that you're the best player on the tour. It just means that you earned more points. That's how both Safina and Jankovic were ranked #1.
So then Safina and Jankovic are better tennis players than all the other women on tour? You're not gonna earn the most points if you're not the best. You earn the most points by winning the most matches and to win the most matches, you have to be the best, sorry.
So then Safina and Jankovic are better tennis players than all the other women on tour?
He beat Fed in the W final when Fed was good enough to make it. This year he beat the best guys at W: Sod, Murray, Berdych. That hardly qualifies as an "easy" draw, sorry. If Fed ever manages to make the W final again, I'm sure Rafa will be happy to beat him again... in less than 5 sets.
Safina and Janko didn't win 2 slams and 3 masters in a year, did they?So then Safina and Jankovic are better tennis players than all the other women on tour?
But you said Nadal is the best player because he's ranked #1, did you not?Safina and Janko didn't win 2 slams and 3 masters in a year, did they?
You want to compare WTA level of competition to ATP? You're really stooping low just to berate Rafa. Be careful because if you stoop any lower, you're gonna fall flat on your face!
All I know is that Nadal is currently the #1 ranked player in the world. That doesn't necessarily mean he's the best player in the world. Was Djokovic the 2nd best player in the world in July just because he was ranked #2 in the world?nadal has won 2 slams and 3 masters 1000 events thiS year. So he is BY FAR the best player in the world. When did Safina and Jankovic win two slam in a year? Stop trolling, you know very well that nadal is by far the best player in the world
Sure, why not? In 2003 Roddick had a splendid summer season, winning 2 masters + the USO. He was definitely the best hard court player at the time. But you said Nadal is the best player because he's ranked #1, did you not?
So were Roddick and Moya the best players in the world because they were ranked #1, too?
Scrw it, I wanna troll.
Berdych did Fed a huge favor by knocking him out, or H2H would be 15-7 rite now. =D
I like how you sneaked in a mildly sugar coated, "Rafa's Wimby win isn't a big deal, because Fed was out of form and got out early". Hmm, so I suppose Rog is yet to complete his career slam?
If Nadal had made the other 5 USO finals, it would be 14-12. If he made a few more slam finals during Fed's 2005-6 domination, it would be in favor of Federer. Hypothetical wins are not valid.
I don't see Nadal beating Fed again in a slam final unless it's clay.
