We’ve been enjoying a spate of resurrected old threads from between 2004-2016 about Federer and the possibility of him reaching 20 slams.

At various points, whether in jest, reasonable belief or even mockingly, some posters did make the correct prediction!

So here’s your chance to make predictions for the future in a thread that will be bumped in each of the years in the title.

Go ahead, show us your prognostication skills.

Those who post predictions in this thread as specified per thread title have much bigger chance to make predictions that make them look like idiots.

Don’t worry most will be banned by the time this thread is bumped

EOY 2020 - Murray and Stan are retired, finish at 3 slams. Possibly Federer too at 22 slams. Djokovic fails to win a slam in another year. Z gen gets a slam.

EOY 2022 - Federer and Nadal are retired before 2021, Fed at 22, Nadal at 18 slams, possibly Djokovic too by 2022 at 14 slams. Zverev and Nick are slam winners, don't know how many though.

EOY 2024 - We'll see the next genuine champion after big 4, one who is young, rises the ladder, starts winning early 20ish, takes out 27/28 yo Z gen and gives the shapo gen a run for their money. Tennis would've hit lower circuit on popularity after the big 4 retirements but this guy starts getting the crowd back. By 2024, every single player older than 28 today is retired.

  • Djokovic will win his 13th slam at the French Open 2019, becoming the only male player to win each slams twice
  • Australia will win the 2019 Davis Cup
  • Shapovalov will win his first slam at Wimbledon 2020 and take the crown to Zverev after his win at the Olympic Games

And the problem with that is....???
This is a thread for people having fun. People who don't care about everything being certain before they can get excited.
Thanks to everyone who posted a prediction on this thread. I've had fun reading them.

No one "knows" anything about the future, but who cares?

It is fun reading educated guesses and even more so the thinking behind them.

man, time took a toll on this prediction for sure. Can't blame you, really, because it's hard to predict these things.

Except the bolded. What the actual f**k?

It’s only November 1st - can I make predictions for EOY2020 and look like a genius if it comes true on Dec 31st?

Federer fans were so desperate for someone to stop Djokovic and Nadal.

They were probably praying at Zverev’s poster every day and night.

"Please, Sascha, please win Slemz..."

Generation Geriatric will continue to dominate.

Very brave prediction, I know.

from 2020 it looks like :
- djoko passes fed for weeks at no.1 (with * of course)
- rafa+djoko will win at least 1 slem in 2021 + 2022
- rafa to overtake fed's 20
- fed may get 1 or 2 (AO/wimby)
- dhiem , lubrev , sinner , medvedwave , may be ********* to win slems in 2020-25
- case closed for dimitrov , goffin , kyrgios , berettini , chung
