It’s inevitably going to happen

Once Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic bite the dust, we’re going to have to accept the fact that Zverev is going to become the next ATG. Does he deserve it like the three above? No, all he’s going to do is vulture numerous masters and slams when the field is depleted. Seriously, these kids can’t take down Nadal and Djokovic and still struggle against Federer who’s using a cane to walk, but they’re going to be the next ATGs of our sport. Just accept it now, everybody.

Once the old men are gone everyone will be winning. For sure slams for everyone!

Old men have vultured too many already. Zverev will win and his sister too.

You are writing off a bunch of really talented young players waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early. I can think of plenty of guys would could improve a bit and block Z or at least prevent him from reaching ATG numbers by spreading slams around.

That said, the odds are that Z will win AT LEAST 4 slams.

Yes, by 2024. And then Tsitsipas-Zverev will be the greatest rivalry of tennis. But both Tsitsipas and Zverev will have to wait until Nadal and Djokovic are over 35 to win Grand Slams. That's how bad the Next Gen is.

Yeah, not likely at all. Zverev isn't that much better than the others of his generation unless he takes a quantum leap in the next few years. He loses to Coric at slams, yet he'll be ATG material? I doubt it.

If anything, that generation will split slams so that neither of them wins that many. And only after Fedalovic retire out of boredom with 25 slams each.

He will deserve his ATG status if he wins several Slams, just like everyone else. You don't have to be as good as Big 3 to become an ATG, and I don't see him ever becoming as great as they have been.

Up until now he never even reached a slam semi and only one quarter. In all these attempts it is not that the big three were the road blocker here but he lost against all types of lesser players. Even on his way to his sole quarter he had to go over five sets against complete no names. So up until now I don’t see why a retirement of the big three would change everything here all of a sudden if guys like Chung, Thiem and Gulbis are more than enough to put him back to his place.

Or how good Nadal and Djokovic are. Or most likely a bit of both.

Nobody that has to wait for other players to quit has the goods to become a true ATG. Federer displaces Roddick/Hewitt/Agassi, Nadal displaced Federer and several of the same players as federer, and Novak displaced Fedal. Zverev can’t overtake 3 30+ year old players, one of whom is closer to 40. Thats not the type of player that will win 7-8 Slams, double digit masters, World tour finals, 100+ weeks at number 1...

No.

FAA and Tsitsipas will save us from watching the smug little tw*t hold up slam titles.

I'm not sure the next ATG is currently playing. I think once the big 3 are done we'll have an era full of parity, a bunch of one slam wonders and maybe couple of multiple slam winners/hall of famers but no real dominant player

Zverev struggles against Djokovic?

Did you see the Rome final last year?

Also, he’s given Nadal some very good matches but just hasn’t come up with the goods in the clutch...yet.

No one who has won "several slams" are ATG's. Murray, Stan Smith, Wawrinka, Guga and Courier are all ATG's?
Aren't they? People here can be a bit too demanding, no? What else do you have to do to be an ATG? If winning slams, fans, respect, leaving your mark on the game won't do it, what will? If Guga and Murray are not ATGs, I give up, then. Good luck for Zverev and cia.
