Wondering how aerodynamic it is with those layered tapes on the sides. Can you describe the sound it makes when you swing? Is it like swoosh?
The gorilla rings break up the boundary layer to muffle the sound. So it is more stealth.

Most people are not knowledgeable about boundary layer in fluid mechanics.

In physics and fluid mechanics, a boundary layer is the thin layer of fluid in the immediate vicinity of a bounding surface formed by the fluid flowing along the surface. The fluid's interaction with the wall induces a no-slip boundary condition (zero velocity at the wall). The flow velocity then monotonically increases above the surface until it returns to the bulk flow velocity. The thin layer consisting of fluid whose velocity has not yet returned to the bulk flow velocity is called the velocity boundary layer.

I find it makes alot of sense in that you tune the racquet for contact. Is the racquet lagging or speeding up or neither at contact? Thats what it speaks too. That said i dont buy that there is some magic number since everyones arms are different

TDLR after thoroughly breaking down the formula, my conclusion with regard to angular acceleration is that MgR matters and moment of inertia (I) matters. But they should be treated as separate factors. I fail to see the logic in combining them as a ratio.

Then why don't you linearly combine them like a*MgR + b*I, with a+b = 1 and suggest the best values for a (b = 1 - a).

Looking back at very old threads, some argue that MgR/I yields angular acceleration. Yes, the units are those of angular acceleration, but you have to ask yourself in what scenario? When you fix the butt cap to a point and allow it to rotate like a pendulum from a horizontal position, the initial angular acceleration as the racquet swings downwards is MgR/I. But that acceleration is purely driven by gravitational force and wouldn’t be relevant to most of a tennis stroke. The only segment of the kinetic chain where it would be applicable is in the racquet drop, before accelerating upwards and horizontally.

4 strips of lead like I add now is pushing it. Trav wraps between the grommets so he can add enough weight. Lead stays on for me mostly but he says no. Probably the paint. Some sticks don’t do well with lead.

Ok. Thinking about it, i would warm up with a 2 lb hammer when I played leagues. I would shadow swing all the shots except for bh overhead. Anyhow in that light yeah I could do it so could you. Especially if using the kinetic chain.

Ime the issue with such weight is deceleration on the serve.

People tend to overestimate the importance of stroke technique and underestimate the advantage of playing with a sledge hammer.

Too many assumptions. My guess is turbulent, but you don't feel any air resistance cuz the swing duration is over in less than 0.2 seconds.:happydevil::eek:8-B

I play with a constant 20 mm beam frame which optimizes my aerodynamics.

I also don't let my hair grow too long as it might impede my fast movement to the net for volleys.

NJ, I had a racquet I gave to a homeless guy that lived in a pickup truck by a local park. He practiced several hours a day and was convinced he would win the US Open in a year or two. He had been a really good D1 scholarship baseball player a few years before and could really hit the snot out of a tennis ball.

Next time I saw him, he had cut up a bicycle inner tube and wrapped it around the racquet head. It looked remarkably similar to travler’s frame. It hit like a cement block.

I think it did smooth out your FH from what I recall in your MEP battle videos.
The astute observer will note that it’s actually the same racquet that I used in my most recent MEP battle (the one where I’m wearing dual knee braces, dual ankle braces, back brace, and backward cap, and ran out steam in at the 75 minute mark, and went down in flames in the super). But the racquet was missing the extra layers of gorilla. Might have made a difference.
 
“returned” to heavier static weight and leather grip/OG setup after quite a few years today. Enjoyed it very much the heavier setup. It is only at around mid 340g though. lol
Almost 4 hours straight over 5 (competitive) sets, and I think I have missed the heavier setup and I thought I didn’t pretty well considering the (new) setup. Will stick with it and see how it fares for the next few weeks.
