Fun tourney! Interesting that none of the current top 10 players were competing in singles for this event. Left a hole for some players to shine like Fery and Holmgren

Fery is #1 player in NCAA so not sure what you talking about

According to the September 7th preseason poll which has the current rankings for all the player, Fery is ranked 48th in the country. So....yeah no top 10 ranked players in the singles tourney.
48 = 1. New Standford common core math. Surprised everyone is not aware of it.

This is mostly because Fery chose not to play sanctioned tournaments as he was schooling the Big 4 in practice.

That's right, and only reason Fery lost yesterday in the final in extremely close 3 sets is because he had to play doubles as well previous day. He had to play 3 sets in the 2 singles match and doubles match previous day and was not 100 % in the tank. He would have won this tournament easily if he didn't have to play all those doubles matches as well as singles

Congrats to Holmgren regardless. He proved he's a force in the NCAA D1 tennis and will be dangerous in NCAA tournament

Great job by Fery in reaching the Finals of both singles and Doubles in grueling 4 day format ITA tournament. Congrats, Go Card.

I used to go watch U San Diego tennis in the 90s when I lived there. I don't remember them wearing sky blue back then but maybe they did.

He would have won easily if he had to play Murrary, Nadal, Federer and Djokovic leading up to the finals.
yes indeed. Because asking a ~20year old athlete to play tennis for like ~3hrs/day is unheard of, and it is borderline abuse. It's not like regular tennis players are ever expected to do such strenuous activity.
He lost because he missed a very makeable half-volley on the match point at 5:4 (while serving). And then for some reason lost a service game at 5:6 while he was up 40:0.
