To be fair they probably got tired of winning everything and as foreginers had nothing to gain by winning the individuals again

Nothing to gain... sorry I forgot that college tennis championships (event singles/ doubles) mean nothing to The Colleges. Yes they played teams but they had a very good chance of bringing another NCAA title to Wake. I’m sure the athletic program and / or donors really encouraged them not to play, not that anyone wants a national championship or anything...

Sarcasm aside - these colleges put players up for four years (pay for tennis training/ PT/ housing/ world class education/ travel etc ). This is a non-revenue sport too I should add.

You are actually probably correct as to why they sat out. Too add they probably felt penalized for not getting a WC for the US Open the year before. Foreigners that win NCAAs in singles don’t get WC, only Americans.

Happy we won but I think we got a bit lucky, or good strategy to lay down the day before. I really thought we would be a national title type team this year but not hopeful after the weekend. We've never been great indoors so who knows, I think we got lucky to get Wake after that match they had with OSU.
If we don't win SEC's this year I'll be very disappointed.

I think the regular season schedule is a lot less daunting this year than last, and hopeful that means the team will arrive to tournament play with some fresh legs and confidence. While I don’t think UF is the favorite anymore, I think they could still pull it off in the Oklahoma heat if a few middle of the lineup guys peak at the right time.

Respectfully speaking, as someone who has followed the Wake program for almost two decades, you couldn't be further off base.
Petros and Goj played their asses off and helped take the program to unprecedented heights winning multiple ACC titles, an indoor ITA national title and an NCAA national title in front of our fans. Nothing but love for both of them for all they gave to the program over the course of their careers. The individual tournament is about just that - the individual. If a player doesn't want to play in the individual part of NCAAs - especially when they were playing singles and doubles deep into the team tournament - that should be their call.

It was not their senior year for both of them, and they didn't boycott, they were just exhausted after playing multiple matches against UVA, UNC, and Texas 3 out of the 4 previous days.
