Itau, Peugeot, and the Miami Open

Interesting to watch the MIami Open and see the two corporate sponsor names slathered everywhere are Itau, a largely South American bank that has a NYC office but doesn't seem to do much business in this country, and Peugeot, which stopped selling cars in the US perhaps 20 years ago. Sure, the tennis is broadcast in some other countries but I can't think of another American sporting event that couldn't muster sponsors with a significant American presence. (Yes, Paribas sponsors Indian Wells, but does plenty of business here with Bank of the West, and the old Miami sponsor, Sony Ericsson, was not an American company, but did plenty of business here). Maybe this tournament being so coincident with March Madness scares local sponsors away? Or maybe these sponsor logos are also metaphorically "the handwriting on the wall" for this tournament?

Maybe it gets marketed and shown in Latin America? They don't have a masters down there, so this is the closest.

Why does McDonalds sponsor the Olympics?
Isn't that sending a bad message?
