Its Not the Best of 5 When There's a Break

In baseball if they don't go 4 innings they start over. Certainly, if the French Open Final had not had a rain delay the dynamics of the match would have been different. I think the only way to fairly address the situation is to start over if they don't finish.

Wow, that would be a bit harsh to the player who is 2 sets and a double break up and about to serve for the match!!

Weather is part of the equation and has always been :)

They'd already completed 3 sets when play was stopped for good on Sunday. That's the equivalent of more than 4 innings of a 9 inning game. So, if major league baseball rules had actually been applied, they would not have continued on Monday because Nadal would have been declared the winner of a "game" shortened because of rain.

So, your idea is pretty much a failure all the way around.

Read what I said dumb ***. I didn't say tennis matches should be decided like baseball games. I said that other sports, such as baseball understand the fairness of starting over rather than starting from where you left off after a long delay because it changes the nature of the game.

What you had at the French Open was not the best of 5 but the best of 3 plus the best of 2. I don't consider Nadal the winner of the match because it wasn't a best of 5 set match. Nobody won.

Oh, I read what you posted. I pointed out that when more than 5 innings of a game are completed, major league baseball doesn't actually think it's fair to "start over" the next day, they either declare a winner based on the innings that have been completed, or, news flash, there is actually a scenario in which the game will be resumed from the point at which the suspension of play due to rain took place.

If the game has completed the 5th inning, and the teams are tied, if the game is a playoff game (regardless of inning), or in college and some Minor League Baseball games, it is not the final game in the series (the first or second game in a three-game series, also regardless of inning), the game is considered suspended, and the resumption of the game is scheduled for a future date (usually the following day). The game picks up from where it left off.
So, again, failure on your part. Sorry to have to point this out to you.

What you had at the French Open was not the best of 5 but the best of 3 plus the best of 2. I don't consider Nadal the winner of the match because it wasn't a best of 5 set match. Nobody won.
No, what you had was the best of 5 played over 2 days, just the way tennis has always done it. There was a winner, you just seem to have a difficult time accepting the reality of this situation.

Wow with this logic I would love to see who would win Wimbledon in any given year lol.

Let me address your concern with a well thought and meaningful response, which I will sum up with a nice visual aid:
