It's time to accept that Andrew Castle knows nothing about tennis and is full of bias

Pathetic commentary in women and men finals. At least try to hide your bias. Right from the start, it looked like he felt deep agony whenever Novak hit a winner. Not to mention how he has some hidden crush for Dimitrov.

Even he accepts it.

Andrew Castle's commentary was absolutely disgusting for the entire match. At one point on live national television he basically mocked Djokovic for his gluten-free diet and how he became the iron man afterwards. This is professional sports commentary... not a troll forum. Come now. John Lloyd was fine and wasn't being a ***** but could have contributed more, for sure.

He's better than Chris Bradnam. Listening to him commentating Wawrinka is the worst thing in sports.

He absolutely needs to quote Wawa's tattoo at least once every time Wawa wins 3 points in a row.

Even Bradnam's co-comm's mock him.

It should be noted though: that tweet is in response to the commentary done for the women's singles final. An equally disparaging tweet was retweeted for the men's singles final however.

I fully agree with this. Andrew Castle is terrible, but John Lloyd isn't very good, and Chris Bradnam is pretty bad also.

I thought it was common knowledge that Andrew Castle puts on a skirt and grabs some pom pom's whenever Murray is on the telly?

I remember when he was playing Del Potro at IW in 2013.

His co-commentator said something along the lines of;

"If Murray is to have a chance..."

Castles thoughts...

"He's the United States Champion playing in the United States, of course he has a chance!""

Another was after Del Potro hit a great winner and was greeted by rapturous applause.

"Applause for both men."

Nothing new that these people are full of bias. Is it just me that feels like Djokovic has the most puntids against him, no matter who is on the other side of the net?

Bring back Boris!

Boris is really bad too imo. I really like Connors and McEnroe though. And then there's also a South African guy who's very good. Don't know his name, bus he's usually commentating when i watch 250 tournaments on TennisTV

Also, why is it that murray is more liked than Djokovic? They can be pretty much the same in their behavior. Both can be arrogant, shout, and so on, but somehow Murray is loved.

Maybe it's because Djokovic is much more succesfull?

Not just pundits, fans as well.

That way his wins are more admirable as he is fighting not just the opponent.

Various other Koenigisms I've heard over the years:

''Murraculous!''

''Phenomenadal!''

''Roddickulous!''

''... like a South African diamond cutter!''

Personally, I'm intrigued to know more about his various experimentations with mongooses.

Koenig: Talking about Roger defending the net! Koenig is the best commentator! Andrew Castle and Barrie Cowen are the worst thing in tennis right now! Haha

Wilander is good too though some find him annoying...He kisses the *** of Big 4 too much esp. Federer and Nadal. But I like to hear his commentary.

Hahahahahhaha i'm 5 minutes in and i'm dying

"First Roger's control, then Murray's failure. Roger what a shame you didn't hit him on the head, a big chance for Roger Federer but the Maestro is too nice"

 Some of this commentary is like something straight out of the golden eagle thread! "This is the Maestro I dream of at night"

Ya, he fluctuates from extremely good, over to where I wonder if he is just trying to be provocative for the sake of it (or has gone on the strong stuff).

He comes with some snide kicks towards both Fed and Djok from time to time, imo.

He's good at analysing games I think but not very good as a commentator. I think he's one of those that they should cut to every 7 games or something to hear his input.

He also can't keep quiet during points. Always making background noises like uh, oh, huh.

I got to say these lame chosen ones have their faves but one player I love to hear is Lleytton Hewitt, he is never biased and very insightful for our sport. I guess Murray was made the Aussies fave or popular choice by the Murdoch Media that controls most there but by the end of the match the Serb was supported more as Murray displayed the worst thing in sport which is loss of heart.

Im glad at least Wally Masur, John Newcombe and many others didnt get much blabbing chance this time.

Henri Leconte as biased as he is at least is a big character entertainer.

Fortunately my "viewing mileage" differed from yours.

Here in the U.S., hosts Chris McKendry (woman's) and Chris Fowler (men's) and the match commentators were very much upbeat and supportive of the players, lauding not only the champions Serena and Novak but the finalists as well: Maria Sharapova for her fighting spirit and resiliance in trying to "mix it up" as well as Andy Murray and his accomplishment in coming all the way back from his 'back' issues. Compliments were extended to their respective coaches as well.

Sorry to hear about Castle.

So, in what direction was his bias in the women's final? Seeing as people apparently complained there too.
