Yes, it's why we will have another Djokodal final at Roland Garros. These players are mentally above the rest of the tour. Djokovic proved again today that he can never be writen off
Do you really believe that Tsitsipas will have the balls to beat them on Phillipe Chatrier with the painful defeats he had ? And Zverev who can't take more than 4 games in a set against a 35 years old Nadal who had a grueling 3h30 match the day before in the real slow clay, the same thing. He choked and choked anytime in his match against Novak at Melbourne, sure he won't do anything on PC.

Djokovic and Nadal I'am sure truly destroyed Tsitsipas'confidence. MP against Nadal. A break lead against Djokovic in the second and the third set (even have FOUR double break points ), served for the match.

Only Thiem had and has the balls to beat Djokodal. It's up to Thiem to become again the Thieminator and save Roland Garros because we all know that Zverev, Tsitsipas, Berrettini will be beaten in the locker room or choke as usual. Even Tsitsipas win against Nadal in Melbourne was a miracle. Djokovic is maybe not the monster he was few years ago, but he is still the toughest mentally fighter with Nadal. Even at 50%, he can reach finals on his worst surface because he know to win the points, the games that matter.

Djokovic was outplayed last year. Yes he didn't play his best, but Nadal was truly peaking. But if Djokovic had opportunities against Nadal, he won't waste them like a clown. He never choked against Nadal except maybe 1 or 2 matches. He has always been the toughest rival of Nadal. It always has been. Nothing says Nadal will perform as well as last year and and nothing says Djokovic couldn't play better. He will always FIGHT against Nadal. That's why I'll bet more on him against Nadal than Tsitsipas or Zverev.

Karatsev has more chance of beating Djokodal than Tsitsipas, Zverev and others because he is fearless when he is playing well. The absurd number of break points he saved against Djokovic at Belgrade is no coincidence. He shouldn't have lost against Servebopelka. I wanted to see him against Nadal.

EDIT : Nadal and Djokovic can meet in a SF (Djokovic would have more chance IMO) but we know like FO 2013 that it would be the real final.
 
Well last 5 years we have got exactly 1 Djokodal clash in clay season so let's , Rg is still too early to say a lot will depend on the draw

2016 : Nadal retired (would have met Djokovic in his half)
2017 : Slumpovic destroyed by Thiem
2018 : Rebirthovic beaten by Cecchinato
2019 : Djokovic beaten by Thiem
2020 : Final between them

Thiem is the one who can stop Djokodal from a clash I agree, because he has the game and the balls. We will see what he does in Lyon. If he lose early, so he will not be a factor in Paris
 
Djokovic blew a lot of break points against Karatsev in Belgrade and Sonego today in Rome. It seemed like he was trying to shorten points too soon with drop shots or being too passive hitting to the middle of the court. I hope he is not going to lose his nerve on converting BPs like happened to Federer when he got older. It is a common middle-aged player problem to lose the free-willed risk-taking of youth.

Isn't Nadal suffering from the same problem?
 
Tsitsipas - Djokovic, to me, is in the mix for best matches of the early year. Great stuff, and Stef was going for his shots the whole time - he played quite aggressively, and very well.
 
Unfortunately Nadal and Djokovic are done winning Grand Slams. They’re too old and putting too much stress on their decaying bones and muscles by competing with the younger guys. Someone else will be winning RG this year… mark this post
 
Honestly as a Rafa fan i mostly scare or idk how to describe i'm saying everything can happen but for me Thiem has the biggest chance against Rafa. But looks like he didn't find his game yet this year. He is still struggling. He showed many times on clay against Rafa but didn't show on RG took just one set in 2019 F. Rafa is getting older and Thiem has huge power from both wings but obviously Rafa still clear favourite against anyone. When Thiem plays his best tennis it is really difficult to play against him and he has capable of reaching and sustaining his level more than others.
 
Thiem is the only guy who I'd give a chance to beat these two on clay in a best of 5...others are mentally cooked or simply not good enough
 
Both Nadal and Djokovic have saved match points on the way to the final. It could have taken nothing, a bad bounce or an unforced error, for them to be already out. You call this clutch or luck or whatever, but the fact is today, both are holding on by the skin of their teeth. They can still win slams, but they will need quite a bit of luck.

I am beginning to believe in Tsitsipas in BO5. He has the physicality required for those battles. He is the most hungry of the younger players.

Trust me people are sleeping on Thiem. He looked to be improving. I give him around 50% to show up in his usual form at RG.


But I will be honest Djokovic scares me. People don't recognize what his new serve has done, he is very very unbeatable.

Nadal will of course make a mince meat of him, but Thiem, whose return is weak relatively, even in his best form will have trouble against this Djokovic who has beefed up his serve.
 
Of course this shall occur (presuming they're in different halves of the draw).

Don't expect the Clown Prince HC specialist, Thiem, to come to anyone's rescue.

Roland Garros clay neutralizes the serve. Djokovic out-aced 7-4 in the 2020 RG Final.
