"Nadal is the favorite and there's only one player who can beat him in my opinion : Novak. And it might seem crazy to say that, but I'd like them to be on the same half of the draw. Novak would perform better, I think, against him in the semis. And Rafa would perform better against Novak in a final. It's psychological. If I had to make the draw, that's what I'd do."

He said a lot of silly things in the past, but he might have a point here.

Nadal first needs to actually meet Djokovic in the SF.

Maybe another bagel will finally make him shut up…

He didn't learn anything from last year did he?

Rafael team prepared for the final even more diligently after his words.

A SF might have been a tough surprise. But now they will expect it and know what Djokovic is thinking. So the team will prepare accordingly

Basically Goran admits that Djokovic would prefer to somehow get over Rafa at RG than win the title, because, guess what, if he can beat Nadal in the SF, he can beat him in the Finals. However, Djokovic has been there before, remember? So what is Goran's point, again, that this time it will be different?

It is psychological, but not for Nadal.

8-)

Djokovic will not make it past Rafa (if he even gets there) whether it’s the SF or Final... it’s over for him

I always laugh when people post these kinds of comments. Ivanisevic would not be Djokovic's coach if he wasn't preparing him to win every single tournament he enters, lol. I think some of you guys forget that these are professional athletes who believe they can win every match they play. They wouldn't be ATGs if they didn't think and act this way.

Of course Djokovic and of course Ivanisevic are going to do their best to win. For my money there's a chance, a small chance that healthy Nadal that is going to lose to Djokovic at RG this year. But that chance is really small, way too much at stake and Nadal is still such a beast on clay taking 3 sets off him could be nearly impossible. but the point is that it is possible, as is everything in tennis.

I don't get what people would like these guys to say "I have no chance, I will give up before taking the court against the GOAT and kiss his feet" - Nadal wouldn't do this to Djokovic anywhere, so why would Djokovic do the same to him?

There are no practical repercussions from him running his big mouth, so in reality nothing to backfire at him, and the usual pumping of Goran's image as "macho".

People criticize him for his bold statements and it's not good for his credibility when he ends up being wrong. His silly statement last year hurt his image quite a bit.

Goran is too dumb, stupid and pathetic to think for himself (and has no confidence left after last year's disastrous prediction)........so he's copying my posts, as I've repeatedly said I want Nadal-Djokovic in the SF.

Last year we saw Undertaker vs Rey Mysterio  .
I don't want to watch the bloodbath again

Nadal and Djokovic at the FO be like:

The best thing for Djokovic is to never play Nadal at Roland Garros ever again, because we all know the result.
This ain't 2015....
Its such a golden opportunity for Nadal to win a 3rd bagel over Djokovic.
That is why I need them to meet in the SF, because we can no longer expect Djokovic to reach the Final if he has to play Thiem in the SF....

I want them in a SF to avoid last year's snoozefest in the final.

And I too believe Novak has a better chance. It's a very different scenario.

If he cared about "credibility", he wouldn't be making outlandish statements. The reality is that nothing happens, if his bombastic statements turn out to be a silly joke that is on him. That behaviour is the opposite of "brave", it is "juvenile", so he is not a macho, but a silly kid. Also, Goran and "image" lol. Basically no one cares about what he says and does. The most he manages is to get people to talk about his shenanigans.
