Ivanovic is hot, but her return feet noise is Cheating

Hantuchova held up her serve several times when the squeaking started.

And Ivanovic squeaked past with a victory.
Yeah, you're right, she squeaked pas her victory. She's a cheater. I love tennis and women's tennis but i hate cheaters.

I'm ashamed of ivanovic, she just laughs it off. I HAVE NEVER seen a player squeak their shoes at every serve. Everyone one elses seems to be able to shuffle their feet without much noise and she cant ? She says she's been doing since the tournament, exactly, thats how she's reached the finals. She never did it before.

People can say she's had her fitness training but time will tell. Will she continue to shuffle her feet in the following tournaments ? If not then shame on her.

I hope Sharapova beats her even though they're both quite annoying,

To the OP, why do you even feel it is necessary to point out your personal feelings on the appearance of this tennis player? Your post lost a little credibility with me on the thread title - IOW...stick to the facts please.

I do not feel it is cheating by the standard sense. Even if she is intentionally making noise to distract her opponents, it is up to the other players to bring it to the attention of the chair ump. Without being told this behaviour is causing a problem in the game play, the ump won't just jump in there. I find this to be very much similar to Sharapova's incessant screeching. The players (as uncomfortable as it may be) need to start speaking up. I can see the dam bursting - as soon as one does, the rest will quickly follow suit.

I was about to say the same thing. What does her being hot have to do with anything?
HAHAHA I agree. I hate those mindless MF's who pay too much attention to her 'hotness'. Last time i checked she's a bit plump and flat-chested.

Credit to Ivanovic for having that very happy personality - who is able to deceive the minds [or lack of] young boys and men. She can burn in hell for her squeaky shoes, that cheater.

And they were highly criticized, fined, etc when they played, so what's your point? they didn't get a pass back then.

Not sure who's 'highly praising' them today, certainly not most of this board. Most that post here are teenagers or are in their 20s, they couldn't possibly know much about those players.

and their cheating(well at least Connors & Mac, don't know enough about Nastase to say) was confined for the most part to arguing with the umpire. I didn't realize arguing was considered 'cheating.' Maybe it was gamesmanship, but it certainly wasn't cheating, or something that directly affected play.

I certainly don't recall them making sounds to throw off opponents during their ball toss, or doing any nonsense on the return(moving around, etc)
You've apparently never seen them play.

I'm not sure if she does it on purpose but ut could get annoying. Maybe she does it subconsciously on the big point cause she's trying to psych herself up. For those who remember Edberg did this all the time.

If you can be serious calling this cheating and sending a player to burn in hell I can be serious about this.

Every second thread I see here is Djoked is a faker, Ana is a cheater, Jelena is a B..., Tipsarevic use gamesmanship, ... Also nobody gives them any credit at all.

And I said what I have about the squeaking. Send your silly complaints to adidas and AO organizers for providing squeaky gear and surface. Ana can't play tennis without moving her feer. Anybody who ever played profesional tennis knows that she will do more harm than good to her, trying to intentionaly make noise instead reading oponents serve and preparing for return.

if Ivanovic was to change her footwork just to disrupt her opponent just before Ivanovic had to lanch into a return of serve it would throw off her own return of serve. Its silly for anyone to think she would risk wrecking her own return by changing her whole footwork pattern just to make a few squeaks to disrupt the server. Ivanovic just likes using her feet.

Im pretty sure she is doing it on purpose, however i wouldnt consider it cheating but lack of ethics from her side, the other thing is that it sound louder on TV than it does it on the court, well maybe in that stadium that is so closed the sound may be more intense. It clearly bother the opponent but until somebody complaints and call it a hidrance, nothing can be done
I was sitting behind her players box And her feet movements were quite loud. Very very noticeable.

Exactly!!! Thank you. All these people sound like they never held a raquet in their hand. Pathetic.

Good point. I didn't think about it that way. Case close.

You mean about serbia ? Its a beautifull country with a lot of misfortunate times behind us for good, I hope he ment no harm but many do. But I am used to it, you saw how mild was my responce. Guess you know what I mean, everyone uses that as their last resort against me so I am quite used to that. NHF at all.

That is unfortunate that people use a country as a weapon. I imagine it is a very beautiful place and from what I have seen here, there are many kind people.

Just to translate this for CC, since she was so nice to me on another thread. The comment in Serbian was for daddy agreeing with him that people here talk a lot of BS.

Thanks, but it would be nice to hear this from him. His comment was offensive and disrespectful.
Thank you for the translation. I agree there is a lot of B.S. on this board. Many say more than they ever would if they were face-to-face with the other person.

Sore looser...
Hantuchova did not complain at all in the first set...
Maybe Ana is doing that on purpose, but bad luck that the roof was closed and it was pronounced more...
Anyway, it will be interesting to see Ana's sqeeking vs. Maria's screaming...
I think she caught her ball toss and looked at Ana and the umpire at one point in the first set in disbelief after some insanely loud and prolonged squeaking. She appeared to be very annoyed and rattled by it throughout.

I remember during the game Henin-Ivanovic in Madrid 2007

She did the shuffling and Henin got distracted and catched back the ball she was just tossing... more than once.

So maybe it is a new thing she was experimenting back then and now she made it part of her return routine.

she did -- but obviously it did not bother her GAME in the first set.
Also, no one else complained before her (Venus did not even realize it was happening)...

Next, last night I played at 100% humidity with my barricade IV and I noticed a lot of squeeks -- I assume they were there but I never noticed them...

If you're a real winner, you should be able to tune out those things just like you shoudl be able to tune out Maria's and Serena;s scream during the serve -- isn't that equally distracting???

As for the comments comparing Ana's last year's returns -- that is absolutely irrelevant to this year's game. Ana has changed her game a lot and some aspects have nothing to do with her last year's game...

What a bunch of B.S.! Like the psychotic screaming of Sharapova and the Williams' sisters isn't deliberate and not designed to distract their opponents? Please!
I have to disagree. I grunt a bit when I play, and I do it only because it helps me to breathe. I have noticed when I don't grunt, my shots don't go as fast because I am not as relaxed. I don't know about Maria Sharapova, and the Williams sisters, but I know one thing... the grunt is not designed to distract the opponent. Maybe the pros do it louder on big points, because they are more relaxed when they do it, and if it distracts their opponent, and the opponent doesn't complain, well, then that's a plus. So, the grunt isn't "B.S."

Come on now. I could use an air horn and laser pointer when Tsonga serves and mostly likely he would still have rolled through his competition. That wouldn't make it appropriate. It doesn't even matter if she's not doing it on purpose. Imagine, if you will, having someone that does that in your local league. Whether you're a "real winner" or not, I'll bet there'd be plenty of people talking about it and most would not look forward to playing that person. IMO, pro tennis should be held to an even higher standard than our leagues since there's so much more at stake.

I noticed the squeaking during the Venus match and it was obvious it was intentional. I tried to create that noise against a friend and it takes a lot of effort to squeak as loud as she does. So for the people saying it's natural to her return game, try it and you too will realize to create that much noise is not natural and reqiures a lot of force. On that note Hantuchova choked.

Congrats on the first post and yo couldn't possibly choose a worst place to put it in. Thread with no sense at all, as said by me before - if you like her you will find a way to defend her, if you dont you will find way to accuse her, but this is really something only she can reply to ( doubt she would tell even if its intentional ) so we will never know.

Again I would like her to stop doing that thus stop all the BS here. Would be a smart thing for her to consider that, I am sure she can just lift up a bit more and not leave the shooes on the surface - thus make no noise. She can get used to it easilly.

LOL you sound like there is some kind of anti-serb group here, believe me that's not the case.People here say disrespecfull things about a lot of pros even against guys like Sampras and Federer who are GOAT contenders.Just take a look how many people bash Roddick and Williams sisters and they're Americans, this is an internet board don't take things this seriously. Also who cares what silly things they say about Ana and Djokovic? They are in the finals, that's all that matters.BTW Tipsarevic showed a huge heart against Federer and I've seen many people compliment him here.

I can see it both ways. I know how my shoes squeak when I play, and it's annoying but DEF not intentional. She is right, it is a new court, so, maybe it's just making her shoes squeak.

Again, and again, and again -- the same logic can be applied to Maria/Venus/Seles... screaming, Nadals screaming and so on. I think we should simply tape their mouth and force them to play without shoes so the whimps can be happy...
Get real, it is not 1930's any more...

You continue to miss the point. If she's doing it on purpose to mess with your opponent then it's unsportsmanlike.

And it's totally different from screaming during a point. She makes these sudden noises right before her opponent hits the serve while the ball is still in the air, and only does it on big points.

Tell that to Tiger Woods when he gets annoyed that someone is talking during his backswing. How is it different?

1) Golf is not a sport
2) WHen Maria serves, she screames as the ball is crossing the net -- for me it is the same distruction as squeeking... If I were to be bothered by squeeking, I would expect the same with the scream as I'm getting ready to hit...

3) It is a plain BS that you say she ONLY does on big points -- she did it during the WHOLE match, sometines (naturally) they would not squeek, most of the time they did... Get your facts straight and don't try to FOX the reality here as it fits you...

Thanks for the "warm" greetings. I'm just stating how I feel, as are you. We'll just have to see how squeaky the Men's final is compared to the Women where 3/4 of the participants are Adidas.

i would love for Tiger Woods to just straight out say "Golf is not a sport. (It's a hobby.)", and cause the whole golf world to get in an uproar. thus exposing the true racists that they really are.
and all of the sudden that lady who re-coined the term "lynch" would start getting praise for it.
