I've Got A Pliskova Easy Feeling!

Karolina got game! What an easy, measured approach to the biggest final of her career today at The Real Slam vs still #2 Kerber. What a result too!

She needs to channel this good play into twin sister lefty Krystina who, despite winning Wimby Juniors, never has cracked top 80. This, also despite holding the WTA record for most aces (31) in a match this year at AO vs now Olympic champion Monica Puig.

USO should be a great opportunity for Karolina to advance to a first slam R16 and maybe a much deeper round.

Next World No.1 I say.
She beat 3 Top 10 players to win the Real Slam.
She has the biggest serve in WTA (ahead of Serena) right now averaging 9.05 aces per match this year.
She needs to mature in her game a bit to finish off opponents rather than relying on her serve power. She played the most number of tie-breakers in WTA this year.

Will Kerber play the Hewitt role of transitional #1...blonde and Yonex holding the fort until a GOAT from Switzerland emerges???

One twin should get a Glenn Frey (RIP) tattoo and the other could ink up with a Don Henley one.

I saw Kristyna play live earlier in the year but never saw Glenn Frey in concert.....

When I watched Kristyna, I spent about 30 minutes scrutinising her game (amongst other things) thinking she was Karolina..... Completely disregarded the significant righty / lefty difference.

I know her twin sister is lefty. But is she also a two handed backhand user?

OHBH is very rare in WTA and then it is usually slice BH like Vinci's.
I can remember Suarrez-Navarro and Schiavone only with a true OHBH among current players.
Broady hits ohbh too.

Karolina seems to be cruising along in new york. Hopefully she can keep it up.

Pliskova no fair. She just beat a little kid with braces! (Montserrat Gonzales of Paraguay!)

Her movement often looks really dodgy and sometimes reminiscent of gawky teenager 'pova. Still, it is possible to get to and be the top 5 with glaring weaknesses.

I'm picking Konta to go further than her careerwise

(thank you tommy the stringer.. you've been hitting right chords lately)

Pliskova has that effortless "big" game, which is hallmark of a true champion:
you hardly see her swinging.
you hardly notice her moving.
but bam! the points are over.

interestingly, parallels exist between this 'ova' and the other better known enigmatic 'ova':
similar lanky body silhouettes.
similar facial reliefs.
similar passionate shrilling release after points.
similar awkard yet genuinely elegant manners.
similar effortless huge games.
(both are 12-cylinderers who normally use only 6 cylinders)
similar love of flat hitting.
similar awakard moving around.
similar country of origin (or should i say identical)
similar smoking hotness (true hotness is an acquired taste)

but Pliskova doesn't suffer asthma and hits plenty of "setup" shots!

she is 24 already but is improving literally every day.

will she become the one to finally take out the long overdue trash rotting & stinking our alley to high heaven?
will she make women's tennis great again?

for now, i remain excited.
for now, i cautiously allow myself to feel as if spring time is around the corner.

dear god, please have mercy on my poor starving soul!
one more spring time. thats all i ask.
the last one was sweet but too brief...

Beautifully written. I share your feelings. I had had very high expectations from Petra. Hopefully Karolina will take over the flag.
There is something about Czech females. They strike the ball so beautifully. I am wondering how they are trained in CR.

Thank you, fellow Linda Ronstadt fan...nothing sexier back then than her singing the national anthem in a classy Dodgers warmup jacket! Glenn Frey, Don Henley and Bernie Leadon all met as part of her backup band before breaking off with Linda's approval and the rest is history, developing power and touch like the Pliskova Easy Feeling we are witnessing emerge now.

Karolina is marching on to oust two champions from the same family, the older one first in the 4R and the younger one in the semis. She will be shining like the sun on a hot day.

that's exactly right.

daughters of the Czech Republic are silently marching on!

easy Pliskova downed solid Pavlyuchenkova to reach final 16 players.
sui generis Kvitova took care of rising Svitolina to reach her own final 16 players.

both mean to go deep in new york this time.
aiming to take out long overdue trashes out of the alley while on their way.

go "easy" Pliskova!

go "sui generis" Kvitova!

its time to redeem women's tennis!

There should be a double-like option at this board!

Never underestimate the heart of a champion like Venus but Karolina's time has come! Hopefully she will be able to manage her nerves.
If it goes to a final set, I'd put my money on K.
No doubt Vee has heart like lion but teeth are long. She will be missed but that time is near.

I just watched the retriever beating Petra in agony and pain. Petra made some spectacular shots and played beautiful tennis especially in the second set but all Kerber needed to run and return every ball. If Kerber becomes No.1 then female tennis is really doomed.

Thats a common misconception. She moves pretty great for her height! (For her HEIGHT people!)

she is Slow and can't move. she makes Helena Sukova look fast. she will not win any majors and will not be good

Prophetic post...wasn't easy but just too much youth and power for the aging Queen Vee.
Queen V played extremely well IMO. K kept her cool in t-break and won despite serving below her standards whole match. She has shots of a classy player. Bright future is ahead of her.
Thanks for the compliment but wait I am not done with predictions. Remember I'd said Murray in straight sets against the young casanova.
