TGK238.1 this is the code
The microgel prestige mid I hit with had a similar code on the inside of the throat. It also had a white overgirp, although it has been posted on the boards the mid is suppose to come with a leather grip. Anyway, it played very flexy.

I don't think that looks cool! The MG paintjobs SUCK! And that ugly red? All Head racquets do. performance wise, you can have your opinion, but this issue isn't debatable.

I got a Microgel Prestige Pro 98 today to demo for 3 weeks! Pro shop closes yearly for an extended vacation and so I need to return it only the week of the 14th :)

I measured the specs, strung with dampener and overgrip:

12.3 oz
8 points HL

I think I know where you purchased the Microgel Prestige rackets. The only place I know that are selling these rackets is an auction site. I have no idea how some of these people were able to buy the MicroGel Prestige sticks but I would be wary because they could be fakes.

Really? That sounds perfecto for me. I like that kind of balance, you know up there in the headlight category. The weight seems pretty nice too. Geez, I'll end up demoing that and regretting using the AeroPro, just watch. :-?

Quest, FYI: **** is selling the pro versions made in Austria of the MG Prestiges and I highly doubt they are fakes :)

The price is $225

they did. its no longer there. building HYPE ppl.

on that note, I can't wait to demo em :D
Head might have asked them to withdraw the link and try to sell some of those "Flexpoint" models for a little longer. As long predicted, the Microgel line gets rid of those "precision engineered holes".

Hit for an hour today with a 4.5+ open player. He was amazed at the number of service returns I was getting back and the increased frequencies of rallies. Normally, it is extremely one-sided with him. Basically, it is the same factor I experienced when serving yesterday - mucho speed, spin and depth with little effort. The racquet does do the work for you. And it feels light and easy to swing. The impacts feel extremely comfortable and dampened. Great feel (buttery) AND results - a good combination. Wonder whether this Microgel publicity about uniformly spreading the impact is really true :). Has the comfort of a Yonex without the soft feel, and one handed backhands are extremely easy to execute. Definitely much better than the Wilson KFactors I have tried.

Are you talking about the mid or the mp suresh?

Yah I have 2 from **** and they are pro versions made from the austria. Has serial number, black butt cap but also leather grips at least for the mids. I have a the Pro and that is just rubber grip. Also on pro versions, you will notice that under the cap grommets there is lead tape. But in reference just look at Michael chaho's thread, I think everything is sufficiently covered there.

He was talking about the prestige pro.

Sounds awesome. Although I'm pretty happy with my current racquet, the specs on the Pro look great and I can't wait to demo it when it comes out.

Anyone have any comments on the low (303) swingweight? Seems like it might not pack quite enough punch on returns and groundstrokes.

I have to admit, there's a lot of difference between a typical prestige and a pro player customized racquet...my right arm hate me...

they are available already.

at least in Asia, the MP is already in shops. so don't be skeptical. :)

I did not know the SW till you posted it. Might account for the very easy swings I am getting with it. Even with strings, how much would it change? Maybe it will add 10 pts? Still less than 320.

I don't understand how a MP racquet which weighs 12.3 oz strung has such a low SW, even if it is 8 pts HL.

I am getting great serves as I mentioned before - probably the tradeoff of higher swing speed vs SW. On groundies, I can see where you are going - it doesn't have the ooomph factor, but then most of my shots don't :)

The bottom line is great feel, great comfort and great stability - I was returning this guy's serves (he is 6'4" and trained in a French academy as a teenager) from the baseline - which was unthinkable before. The head (no pun) just will not twist or wobble, however fast the incoming ball.

From what I understand, this Microgel is basically nothing but silicone (as in implants). It is well known that top pros have their racquets customized with silicone, not lead. (Is it injected later, or is it in the mold?) It is lightweight and firms up the material. I have played with leaded up sticks before, and it is not the same. Lead makes the racquet powerful, at the expense of lots of weight and loss of ease of swing.

The spin of the ball will account more on how stable the racquet can be. Speed is not a huge issue as you can just block it back. But if the ball comes in with high rotation or what perceived as "heavy ball", then the racquet will twist in your hand if it's not stable and/or that you are not swinging the racquet with enough head speed. If you just block the heavily spun ball, then it would spray all over the courts.

Personally, I would have a tougher time playing someone who's skilled with spin and not be afraid to play guys who hit hard balls.

Go hit with someone who hits "heavy balls". And then you can make a better judgement whether this light "player" racquet is indeed stable or not.

I am curious as well because I don't like playing with head light and light racquets. No power. No stability! I guess I'll wait til late Jan to take it for a test drive.

I have played with three people who hit with only moderate spin and pace, and then this guy I mentioned. He is a topspin expert. He uses a heavily leaded up Volkl V10, and his serves and groundies have heavy topspin. His serves kick so much it makes me dizzy following the ball. His forehand topspins have spun and gone by before I am near them. He played a Southern California Open in summer, losing to the finalist.

It depends on what level you are. This racquet strung will be between 12 to 12.3 oz, a little lighter than the K95. I expect it to be more HL and with considerably less SW than the K95. Personally, I don't think it will be a limiting factor till the 5.0 level, when leading may be required.

For those who are hard hitters, I suspect they will not like the Pro in stock form. They may be happier with the stock K95.

^^^ The POG is very stiff, compared to the K90. The K90 is very stiff compared to the new head prestige Mid.

The new head mid is not anywhere near the feel (as it relates to stiffness) to either of the two frames you listed. It feels more like the PC600 tour version with the suspension grip.

Don't get me wrong though>>> the frame plays very sweet. The balance is awesome, as is the SW. However, I was hoping the stiffness and crispeness that comes with that would be more like the Head i prestige. The contact with the ball just did not feel as crisp as the i prestige mid.

Just to add>>> that paintjob is awesome. Probably the best paintjob I have ever seen on a frame.

Thanks, drak, for the quick reply. One of my hitting partners just picked up a MG mid from ****, but hasn't hit with it yet. He hits pretty awesome with the k90, so your information will be very useful to him when he returns.

BTW, loved your thread on the POG mid. It inspired me to pick one up myself. I was able to rescue one on craigslist for $15! Just stuck on a new TW leather grip, slapped on a new grommet/bumper guard set, and strung it up with some Gosen OGSM. Good as new (more like 7.5/10 new). Pretty much done everything but hit with it yet. Can't wait. It should be fun to experience the differences between the three "mids" at the next hitting session.

ryan808, glad you enjoyed the POG thread. That frame is awesome. I still bust it out every once in a while.

Can't believe you picked one up for $15. Please post your thoughts on the frames when you do play with it. Would love to hear your thoughts on the 3 versions.

Also, let us know how your buddy likes the Head Microgel mid.
