I've never met ONE person who likes Andy Murray - and I'm from Britain!!

This thread should fit in comfortably with the other 50 I hate Murray threads. Now we need a "I hate Murray - and I'm from Turkey!!" thread.

I have to agree with you on Murray's matches, there's no fun watching them and his "roarrr cat faces" make me wanna hit him in the face, but Roddick's game is as boring as Murray's

I can definitely see why it's boring for a lot of people, but Roddick became my tennis hero back then with his big serve and forehand.

From India, and I like Andrew.

However, with Ralph and Noel taking everything, its understandable that Britain must be very frustrated with Andrew. Also, (it's possible that) Ralph and Fred have sort of cornered the tennis fanbases, so again it;s hard to break in there.

I wonder who'll go further - Murray @ SW19 or the Ingerlund football team in Poland/Ukraine.

I had a good feeling about Murray at Wimbledon this year but now the injury and now that nightmare draw.
Is he just destined not to do it.
Go down in history as the greatest player to never win a slam?

That's a possibility. But with Fed getting older, Nadal may get injured sometime then Murray gets a window when Nole is a bit off.

Nadal will never be injured and Nole will never be off.

Murray has more immediate concerns to worry about because his own game is declining rapidly.

I doubt he can reach many more SF's or even QF's at slams in his career.

Seeing as he is the male Wozniacki - a Wozniacki-like decline would seem fitting for him.

Murray is "injured" so he shouldn't make to to the quarters. Either that or he makes it to the quarters and people have to admit he is a huge fake. You can't have it both ways.

The England football team showed way more hart (hehe) than Murray ever will on a Tennis court against Italy. That was a match they should have lost in the second half but they took it all the way to penalties...where they were expectedly horrible.

Reasonable, well-contructed and sensible post.

No substitute for skill.
Pirlo's penalty was crazy.
Why don't keepers stay in the middle till the kick is taken?

I just read that Hart had watched Pirlo do a multitude of 'Panenka's' on video so he must be just stupid not to stand his ground. The end result was just though, England looked like a Championship side vs Barcelona.

I think Hart is a great stopper but if he'd watched multiple videos of Pirlo then you got to think he screwed up.

Nadal is the most hated player of all-time. Nice try and trying to convince us differently.

Only on TTW. The amount of venom they both receive is quite ridiculous, not to mention plain tedious and, what's more, mostly inaccurate!

It's true he has hit a bit of bad form in the last few months but he's still a clear ranked #4 by some margin so don't you think we should wait a little longer before drawing the curtains on his entire career?

How and in what way is he 'the male Wozniacki' ??

Strange you're arguing with tank_job - what with him being a Murray fan and all that, unless...

It's true most people in the UK 'appreciate' Murray's skills more than having any great personal affection, unlike say with Henman which was sort of the opposite.

As for me, I like him.

He's unique, hugely talented, good-humoured off the court and fighting arguably 3 of the best tennis players of all time whilst at his peak - plus he hasn't thown his talent away like other talented players who hover around the 20s in the rankings but never achieve what they should with their skills.

Despite being up against these 3, he's still managed to plunder 22 titles including 8 masters so far. Also, I think he's mentally tougher than people give him credit for.

Couldn't have said any of this better myself. Great post!

Oh come on, you are asking for trolling here.

Woz: No slam despite high ranking

Murray: No slam despite high ranking
Yes, this is definitely the same, because Woz had 3 of the greatest female tennis players of all time standing in her way at slams this last year or two... oh wait a sec.

It's definitely the same - Woz has also made 3 slam finals, oh wait...

Yeah, it's definitely the same because Murray has held the number 1 ranking before... oh wait a sec.

Don't compare Murray with Wozniacki, you insult her.

Relax...you're one of his fans, remember??

I'm being serious, EVERY SINGLE person who I've talked to about tennis has never had a single positive thing to say about Murray.

Responses about him range from "oh, I just turn off the TV whenever he's playing", to "I saw him live and couldn't connect with him at all - I ended up supporting his opponent", to "whining twat", to "hands down the most unpleasant person in sport".

And Britain is meant to be the place that 99% of Murray supporters live.

You guys may think that Nadal is the most hated tennis player out there - but that's only in tennis forums (if you actually ask most people, they love Nadal).

In the real world - Murray takes the title of most hated sportsman of all time with superlative ease.

So what is it about Andy Murray that makes him the most hated sportsman of all time?
What a post full of silly assumptions. Britain is supposed to be where 99% of Murray supporters live? Really?

Let's start by making things clear: The only reason Andy Murray has not been knighted by HRM is because he hasn't won a slam yet (thus ending over a half century of slam titles draught for Britain.)

How easy it is for a "British" fellow to come to a public forum to bring to everyone's attention how unpopular Andy Murray (a Scot) is. Why don't you English come up with somebody at least capable of offering some hope of winning a slam tournament, instead of having to rely on a Scot like Andy Murray to do it?

Here's England's attitude towards Murray:

Before Slam final where Andy Murray plays:

[ English Gent #1 ] (Sipping a cup of tea, and adjusting his monocle)
Oh, do you hear? It seems our fellow British, Sir Murray, is contending for a slam final!

[ English Gent #2 ]
Indeed! I do hope he comes through, the fellow! Godspeed to him, for the glory of the sport and our immortal British Empire!

After Slam final (Andy lost):

[ English Gent #1 ] (Wearing ACDC t-shirt with several blood stains, a stench of beer permeating the room)
Oi! That Scot Murray, that bloody mug! He isn't good for notn! The damn Scot lost again!

[ English Gent #2 ]
He's Scottish, what do you expect? Say, mate, let's grab me crowbar and go smash some car windows!

Tbh, that post is full of just as many silly assumptions as tank_job's. If not more.

I'm English yet support Murray just as much as I supported Henman - he represents GBR and I'm British.

That post is an attempt at satire (and you are expected to get a slight jolt from it.)

I actually had to edit it some for liability purposes.

I actually love British people (as long as they are Scot or Welch.) LOL

Just kidding. Or am I...? :)

Good for you Peter. Our passports all say the same thing. Murray is as much your countryman as he is mine.

You're a naughty boy Jack.:)

PS it's Welsh. Welch is something you do on a bet.

Ah, yes. Thank you. So if an Englishman bets against an Irishman that a Scot will win a slam and then doesn't pay he's Welching.:)

All the anecdotal evidence I have at work and socially are actually the same, no one likes Murray or cares that much about his game at all, in fact we were talking about him today and the old chestnut came up, that he wanted England to lose a football match, you must know that is a hanging offence!

But it is also about his sulky personality, a friend of mine likens him to the sulky teenager called Kevin that Harry Enfiled created.

By the way, during French Open commentary last month, Annabel Croft was really having a go at him, she kept going on about his schoolboy behaviour and he needs to act more manly, at one point she advocated military service!

He got upset with Virginia Wade but no one told him about Annabel Croft
