This is the 24th meeting between the two young guns. Nadal currently leads the head-to-head 16-7. Nadal played a solid match with his possible future rival Juan Martin and won 6-4; 6-4. Djokovic had to go three sets with Roger Federer but eventually prevailed 6-3; 3-6; 6-2. Looking forward to it!
 
this is a good matchup. rafa got him last time. i think rafa only can stop djoker, and djoker can stop rafa
 
Toss up, Djok seems to be in good form. His performance with Fed today seems telling of Novak's still somewhat iffy mental game while Nadal has really stepped up his game since the Karlovic debacle. I say Djokovic in 3

Should be a good match. Either guy can win, by far the best two players on tour right now for sure.

Nadal's fh was on fire in that match and I like the way he's hitting his fh now, but he's lost control of his 1st serve and that's not good enough right now vs. djokovic. I will be happy if he comes through without an injury. :)
 
Happy no matter who wins this. But going for Rafa to end the streak and prove he is the best right now, anytime anywhere.
 
I'm still recovering from Fed's choke at 2-2 in the 3rd and I'm not even his fan!

About this match, Djokovic in 2 I guess. Or Nadal in 3.

Gotta agree with this.

I liked the look of Rafa by the end of his match with JMDP, that was just the match he needed to face Djoker. Looking forward to this one immensely.
 
I'm torn, i'd like Nadal to win to take Djoker back to earth. I'd like Nole to win to show that he owns everyone atm.
 
Novak in 0-5 versus Nadal in finals :shock:

However, he could definitely break that pattern with his current level of play

Nadal is 5-7 on HC versus Novak and 16-7 overall

So, all 7 losses against Novak have come on HC

If Djoker plays like he did today in the first set, then Nole. But after that he dropped it a lot, so who knows? Ah, well, Nadal vs Nole tend to be good matches, may the best man win.
 
Nadal in 2 tight sets or 3 sets. Before the event I would have favored Djokovic over Nadal should they have met. However Djokovic sucked today, he only won since ******** showed up and played even worse. I honestly think Federer was scared to play Nadal and it is why he fell apart so much to lose to even a lackluster Djokovic, but was not impressed with Djokovic today at all.

Could be an absolute roasting for Nadal unless his first serve is on fire, that's the key to beating Djokovic at the moment; concentrating on keeping a consistently high first-serve, which Federer couldn't do.

Can't believe I'm saying this - and it's taken him 3 years to reach this level, but Djokovic is the world's best professional tennis player at this minute, and I'm positive tomorrow against Nadal many are going to be surprised when he defeats him, if he plays like he recently has (which he will do, I believe), it could be a very easy match.

No he's not. He's the best for the first 3 months of the year which is on his favorite and best surface, HC.

The clay / grass seasons are right around the corner and Novak has proven to be above average but not great on natural surfaces. How many clay and grass tournaments has Novak won?

He's won one MS1000 clay tournament beating Wawrinka in the final (Rome 2008 ) and 3 other smaller clay tournaments (4 total)
He's won zero grass tournaments (0 total)

His win percentage on clay and grass is 73% and 74%, respectively

I do agree with you concerning Nadal's serve. He MUST serve better than he has so far in the tournament as 50-55% first serve percentage won't get it done.

Watson: None. But he has never played this well consistently before either. Am hoping you'll be unpleasantly surprised at how he plays on clay and grass later this year.
 
Seriously guys I thought the Fed/*******s are the most annyoing guys on this board, but the ********s like(Yoda) who crawled out lately are leading the fangirlism to another galaxy.

I voted Novak in three but I meant to say two!

He's in incredible form at the moment, and I think sometimes people forget just how tough an opponent Federer still is...

I think Djokovic will go on a tear, and carry on his winning streak!
 
^^ Novak appears to have made a huge mental breakthrough versus Federer. Wonder if the 0-5 versus Rafa in finals will play on his mind :confused:

Novak did show us today that he still has some chinks in his impressive HC armor. We'll see if he can hold it together tomorrow for the win :)

Novak is also my second favorite player so a tough choice for me as well :-?

However, would love to see Rafa win his 6th HC MS1000 title! (this will be his 10th MS1000 HC final)

He'd also tie Federer for number of titles won at IW at 3 apiece
