Boy, if you feel like that already about Rafa then I can't image how hard it would be to cheer for him if he was Rogers age...during the downfall of his career.

Lol, well that's the thing, Fed fans had it easy for a long time. I don't feel that way. It's not that Nadal is inconsistent, not at all. It's just such a confidence thing with him. He doesn't win for a while, and his 9 slams and 18 masters titles are down the drain. The "feeling" is not there. When he's winning, I have lots of faith in him.

Different court speeds favor different strategies and styles of play, plain and simple, IW is a slow HC, it is tough to hit winners by a good defensive player.

If it is a faster HC, Federer's style of play starts to win out over defensive counter punching.

Your stats show exactly what I stated in my post above, Djokovic knows he can't out grind Nadal consistently.

Rubbish post. Nadal on average hits more winners off the ground than Djokovic aswell as making less UE's.

Rafa has been a little loose so far... Novak has been dialed all season but Nadal is the best in the World and Novak hasn't had to deal with the Nadal topspin shots this year

Do you know the difference between hitting a winner and being aggressive?

If you grind out a 25 shot rally and then hit a winner - that's not being aggressive. That's grinding your opponent down.

It might be a 25 shot rally, but nadal is the guy dictating play, so he gets the reward of the easy winner at the end. Ofcourse if there are FE, nadal would look even better than he already does.

Nadal likes to defend, slowly make his way into a neutral rally, and then grind his opponent down like a rag doll around the court. Then hit the winner. So even if he hits more winners he's not always necessarily more aggressive.

Also Nadal hits lots of passing shot winners. So his opponent is actually being aggressive, but Nadal ends up with the winner for the point. Surely, that's not being aggressive.

On the upside for today, Rafa's first serve in% was good but not amazing. Actually none of the stats scream WOW. Except the serve speed.

Makes sense - you go for more on the serve, the percentage goes down.

That's just one type of rally. Against certain types of players nadal takes control of the point from the beginning. Against others it's a neutral rally from the beginning that which he again takes control of with his forehand. Yes the one you describe is the least aggressive. The question of how aggressive he is depends on the ratios of the different types of rallies.

I've got to say, I don't know that there has ever been a player with more pressure on him than Djokovic has today. Firstly he's got the pressure of having to face a player who owns him on hardcourts (and even more on clay), secondly Djokovic is defending an undefeated record this year, and thirdly there is a minority perception (that will become majority should Djokovic lose) that says the only reason Djokovic is undefeated is because he hasn't played Nadal yet this year. I sense a lopsided implosion on the way

What about Fed at the 2009 French Open? When Nadal was knocked out and he was form there on expected to win and not to mention match Pete's record? Or how about every single time Fed had to play Nadal at the French for four straight slams? What about when Nadal this year, only a few months ago had a ton of pressure on his shoulders to win the Australian Open?

Sorry but there are TONS of players that had immense pressure on their shoulders, Fed and Nadal alone had history on the line. The chance to go down and be remembered for something that hasn't happened in decades. Djokovic has a 17 match win streak to maintain...

Worst case scenario pundits are just gonna say Nadal still owns him at finals and some backlash. That's about it
