Every time there is a draw whoever is projected to meet a fan's favourite suddenly becomes brilliant and the other players become mugs. Like clockwork. Yet no one is ever brave enough to call who is tough and who's a mug before the draw

If Federer gets that far. He will likely play Wawrinka before that, while Nadal has to deal with a midget. Fed also has Cilic in his draw. Nadal? Khachanov and maybe Isner
Come on.. be a fair Roger fan. This is the most favorable draw Roger's had in a Masters 1000 for a long time. But in fairness, any draw for a 37 year old is tough. This draw is as favorable as it gets for him. Since when has Stan troubled Fed on a HC????

Fed was troubled by Kohli and Verdasco. So, I expect Stan to be no walk in the park. That said, draw is overall not shabby. He avoided Djokovic in the SF . He does not have grinders like Coric in his section.

Wawrinka was really good in Rotterdam and while he has had trouble with Fed on HC, there have been close ones like AO17. I find Nadal’s half easier. Can you really argue Schwartzman is tougher on HC than Wawrinka?

I know Djokovic is probably the mentally toughest of the last 20 years but let's see how he handles being brutalised by a limping Kyrgios.

Kyrgios against Djokovic in the third round (OK, not yet, but still...)? This'll be interesting. Looking forward to that

I don't know. Maybe.

If he could play as well as he did against Coric and Tsits, I'd give him a fighting chance.
I didn't see his match against Coric but I did watch the final and although he played well, I didn't think it was anything that special tbh. It's just that these next gen players are absolutely useless when they come up against someone with a bit of variety in his arsenal. They see a few slice backhands and the odd chip and charge and wonder what the hell's going on lol.

I watch him closely. He's doing certain things such as FH and return better than he has in a while. The ball is more lively off his racket for sure. Whether he brings that to IW is yet to be seen.

Ask me next time you are interested before a draw is made, and I will give you the respective MUG and DANGER lists.

OK?

Everyone anticipating Novak v Nick. I'm not hyping it up until I see them both in that 3rd round. Nick could lose his mentality like he does so often.

I actually challenged someone once to come up with a tough draw for the player they disliked. On the basis that if the real draw was close to that they couldn't then complain it was an easy draw. They didn't take it up of course.

Federer's draw is tough as hell.
Nadal's as usual is easy.
Federer's draw is not tough at all. The only slightly difficult round is the third one with Wawrinka, but Federer owns Wawrinka on hard.

This draw was rigged to dangle a carrot to Nick Kyrgios and convince him to take the tournament seriously.

Obviously.
Obviously. Stick a big 3 member in front of him and he seems to give a gram of F@%!. I wonder what the mood would be between Djoker and Kyrgios given the latter's remarks about the former to Muzz. Djoker will probably just deck him.

Pretty comfortable draws all around, I think. The only threat looming early for Fed is Wawrinka, who's god-awful against Fed on hard. Cilic or Nishi in the quarters could beat him if he's not in top form, but if he is, he should be able to handle them.

Nadal's got Medvedev in the round of 16 as a potential threat, but I don't think his game will match up well with Rafa's. A little too junk-ball-y. Rafa eats that stuff for breakfast. Isner or Khachanov in the quarters could be tough but, again, if he's in good form, he should be fine.

Djokovic's draw is a piece of cake. Kyrgios looms in R3, but Djokovic is in much better form than the last time they met, and his luck in tiebreaks against top guys is bound to run out sooner or later. Then likely Coric in the quarters – the type of match that might require a bit more energy than Djoko would like, but that he almost certainly won't lose.

The only big question mark is who will make it to face Djokovic in the semis. Should be a good tourney!

Stan lost 2-6 in the final set in Rotterdam against Clownfils. Sure, Stan is tougher on HC than Diego, but that's a pretty low bar. I'm perfectly comfortable with Fed's 21-3 dominance over Stan and the mentally relaxed mode he's in when playing him off-clay. If Fed retains his form from the semis/final of Dubai, he will beat Stan easily.

I've got tickets to the SF and F. About as good a draw as I could have hoped in order to see Rafa. Schwartzman could be a physically tough match but can't see him actually winning. Khachanov or Isner is a little scary but if Rafa is in good form then he should win.

The challenge for Roger will be the Wawrinka/Tiafoe b2b. If he gets through those then he'll be in the SF. The Kyrgios/Novak match should be very exciting.
