Jack Sock 20 wild cards

How does Jack sock get 20 WCs into US based ATP events. Thats insane isnt the point of WCs to just get you started a few times then thats it? Is it because hes a US Open grand slam champion?

I dont remember DY with this many back in the day. But after he ****ed of the USTA hes probably not getting any now.

If sock improved his footwork he could be top 50 easy.

It is interesting how The Donald would be criticized on this forum for getting WCs, but there is no such "outrage" about Jack Sock.

You try to give WC to "potential" stars. Each tourney decides what might be the future return on a wikdcard. DY {Nike_Head} had the corporate backing, so does Jack.

I have seen posters on here go on and on about The Donald having no work ethic, being a spoilt brat, and how he gets into US tournaments in an undeserving way wink wink. But when it comes to Sock or others, there is no such disgust and the blame is shifted to "American coaches" or "best athletes going to other sports."

Not nearly as many as Ryan Harrison got. I think he's the champion even over Sock. I think Harrison got his ranking up into the 50's with the benefit of those WC's but since they've stopped propping him up looks like he's fallen back to his natural level - in the hundreds.

There is a double standard being applied when it comes to Young, plain and simple. Young is not getting wildcards he did years ago and he's in the top 100.

So, as bad a tennis player some believe Young is, he's better than Sock and Harrison.

As you all know, It can sometimes boil down to someone's attitude. DY has been an a=hole to just about everyone and nobody will help him now. Why should they? He'll only throw his attitude in your face. Is Sock getting too many WC's? Probably.

When was the last time Young got a WC? It appears that Young is helping himself now. He's inside the top 100 without the benefit of WCs.

As far as his attitude, I don't see miles of thread regarding Harrison's less than perfect attitude. But different rules for different people I guess.

Not sure it's racism though, Sock didn't have Mac touting him as the next best thing since sliced bread therefore I have heard next to nothing about Sock, therefore I have no expectations of him. No idea Sock was getting so many wc's, that is a joke if there are more promising players to give them to.

As for Harrison, I hate seeing his GS sized entourage to match his challenger level game. Must be nice being a favorite son.

You clearly missed all the people calling Sock fat, not willing to improve his fittness, as well as many blaming DY's mother coach and he still has a way to catch Young in wildcards.

So by default it goes to Sock, Harrison, and in past times DY, because they are ranked higher than any other up and coming players in the US. What's actually more interesting about this chart is how skewed it is with Americans getting more wild cards and the results not backing them up.

9 out of the top 17 went to Americans with the top 6 being American.

(Off topic - how many tournaments are there in Australia for Chris Guccione to get 16 wild cards?)

This is just simple picking and choosing certain info to support a biased claim.

I like donald young and want him to succeed, but surely posters can't complain he didn't receive enough help or there is a double standard. Donald Young was hyped up more than Harrison and Sock and received ridiculous amounts of help from the USTA. He wasn't able to put the help to good use, so they moved onto other younger promising guys. The same thing is happening to Harrison.

I don't see what Sock, Young, and Harrison have done to anger people on this board vs other players. Harrison is a fiesty guy, but his attitude is nowhere near as bad as many of the other bad-guy players out there. I like it when players get a little mad. They should have a fire inside them to win. None of them have led me to believe they are lazy or undeserving. All three guys play attractive tennis and are enjoyable to watch (for me at least.) We should be supporting the new rising young players, not tearing them down.
