Jackie Draper - Nike is Trash. Switches To Asics & Vuori

One of my closer insiders at Bloomberg just relayed to me that Jack "The Ripper" Draper has dropped Nike and is now wearing Asics shoes with unbranded shirt/shorts.

Porque? Because as we all know, the Nike products are garbage. He's tired of wearing shoes that are ill-fitting and bad for your feet and shirts made of plastic that disintegrate after 2 wears.

His plan is to compliment Asics with Vuori, which Marc Garon and Eden Silva are already wearing/sponsored.

I personally have never worn Vuori because I'm a man. However, I wear exclusively Lululemon, which is very manly, for tennis and it's a far superior to anything else out there. So I expect him to win the USO now.

Asic tennis shirts are much better quality than before.. i bought one for 40 bucks last week and it was very good material. In the past ,, these asic Tshirts,, i wear it 2 times and i had to thrown them out. but it looks like this one will last me good 10-15 washings.

I just started using a pair of Asics FF shoes for the first time. They're worlds better than Nike (which gave me plantear fasciatis). They're not as good as Yonex or Mizunos though or other speed shoes.

The fact is that unless you're willing to sacrifice for playing in garbage clothing/shoes for boat loads of money like Alcaraz or Sinner, you're eventually going to just want to play in quality wear.

This is what I will be wearing from their line:

Beautiful! I really like the ball that got stuck in your racquet touch. Those shoes look like trash though. What are they, Cole Haans?

If you're actually a man, try the Ten Thousand clothes !

Maybe your "insider at Bloomberg" just knows how to search the forum?

The biggest reason that Draper is leaving Nike is likely because Vuori offered him more money and Nike chose not to match the terms. They have first right of refusal built into most of their contracts, so they can decide to keep a player or not. Clearly, from Draper's generation, they already have Sinner and Alcaraz signed to huge money, so they can't keep everyone. Letting Draper go is similar to what they did with Musetti. Nike always signs a bunch of promising players when they are younger, and then chooses who to keep when they get further into their pro careers. This is explained in the Serve podcast with Roddick's interviews with tennis agent Max Eisenbud:

I almost pulled the trigger on some of their shorts. But every one of their commercials is some guy with roid thighs. I have great thighs, don't get me wrong. But they're tennis thighs - they aren't thighs meant to squat 1,000 lbs. So I wasn't sure how they'd actually fit.

The interval shorts fit well for tennis and average thighs.

Señor mío:

The word ‘porque‘ is a conjunction equivalent to ‘since’ (puesto que), ‘given that’ (dado que) or ‘as’ (ya que).

The term ‘porque‘ isn’t used to ask a question.

Porqué (note the diacritical accent) is a noun, synonymous with “cause”, “motive” or “reason”.

Por qué (why) combines the preposition por (by) and the interrogative qué (what; note the diacritical accent, without which it would lose its precise interrogative function).

Yeah, he “dropped” Nike and not the other way around lmao. And the notion of players leaving a brand bcs “it’s uncomfortable” is such a joke. They care about money first and foremost, and there’s no guarantee money in tennis but their endorsement deal (even some has incentive instead of full upfront payment). Anyway, Nike’s only main focus right now are Alcaraz & Sinner. They’re not gonna extend their current roster for big money that’s why you see players like Fritz, Tiafoe and now Draper leaving. Soon, Rune will leave as well and Nike will replenish the roster with bunch of other up and comers, rinse and repeat.

Fritz (BOSS), Tiafoe (Lululemon), and Draper (Viuori ) left Nike for greener pastures.

Funny enough, Fritz and Draper are now wearing Asics shoes and Tiafoe is wearing K-Swiss.

Nike has no allure anymore. The players are realizing the money Nike sends them isn't worth playing in second rate garbage. They'd rather make great money from those big emerging brands and wear quality footwear.

uhh no they realise they can get more money elsewhere and they leave

Maybe Nike was not willing to pay them to even continue using the shoes. Where as Asics and K-Swiss would offer sponsorship.
Look at Dmitrov, he had to continue used old custom Vapors until he ran out of shoes, then he finally made a change.

Nike doesn't need Fritz, Tiafoe, or Draper. The three of them have virtually zero engagement on social media. And despite how you might feel about SM, this is the world we live in. Not a huge incentive for Nike to overpay to keep Draper, but worth it for smaller brands to take a chance that he might snag a major in the near future.
