2024 Sinner vs 2015 Djokovic

Slams: 2-2
Big titles: 6-7
Additional finals: 0-2

Winner: 2015 Djokovic

You're kidding me. Sinner beat Alcaraz once for a slam. On the other 3, he was fortunate Alcaraz got out early.

In his first 5 slams, Djokovic took down Federer twice, and Nadal 3 times in a row.
2011 AO to 2012 AO Djokovic was the highest hardcourt level ever.

Competition was peak in that period, Big4 reached all 12 Slam semifinals spots

2006 Federer is also better than 2024 Sinner: 7 big titles to 6.

The top hardcourt seasons are

1) Djokovic 2015
2) Federer 2006
3) Sinner 2024
When faced with an array of choices, I always ask: who did they beat!

Djokovic 2015: Wawrinka in SF, and Murray in F at AO; Federer at WB & US

Federer 2006: Baghdatis at AO; Nadal at WB (first non-clay slam final for Nadal at 20); Roddick at US

Sinner 2024: Medvedev at AO; Fritz at US

I'd choose Djokovic '11 (Federer & Nadal x2) over Federer '06 and Sinner '24.

On HC yea, but the year over all? Novak’s 2011 was marked more so by tour domination, not by the domination of any particular surface.

And if the YEC is the only thing that separates them, then I wouldn’t really consider that extremely noteworthy.

Novak arguably was burned out and finished after the USO

But it really doesn't matter since Novak's 2015 is better than both years

But also looking at who the two beat en route, I'm almost certain Novak had more wins over the top 5 than Sinner. Djokovic basically had to beat Federer, Nadal and Murray at every tournament. And even then, only a YEC separates Sinner's 2024 from Novak's 2011

Well, Sinner in '24 won 2 slams over Medvedev and Fritz. They were a far cry from Federer, Nadal or Alcaraz.

Djokovic in '11 had 3 slams over Federer, and twice over Nadal. And in '15, he had 3 slams over Wawrinka and Murray, and twice over Federer.

Federer is a weak era chump and Nadal is a clay court specialist . Why do wins over them matter ?? LOL

Federer was a weak era champion. That didn't mean every one of his slams was a weak-era stuff.

From '08-13, before Djokovic turned Nadal into a clay court specialist.
