Jannik Sinner looking to join VERY exclusive company in his SF vs. Novak Djokovic...

Jannik Sinner will be looking to score a 5th consecutive victory vs. Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon Semi-Final on Friday:

2025 Roland Garros
2024 Shanghai
2024 Australian Open
2023 Davis Cup Finals

The ONLY player to ever win 5 consecutive matches vs. Novak Djokovic?

Rafael Nadal:

2008 Summer Olympics
2009 Davis Cup
2009 Monte Carlo
2009 Rome
2009 Madrid

Sinner is like big 3 so there is no shame in losing to this guy. Especially considering the ages at which the losses happened. 36 to 38
Streaks like this tend to occur at the beginnings and ends of careers. Connors beat Borg six times in row early on. Borg beat Connors 10 times in a row up to the point of Borg's retirement. Federer lost his first three matches to Agassi, then beat Agassi eight times in a row up to Andre's retirement.

You are right but Djokovic will break this steak before he retires. Maybe on Friday or someday later.

And then you have Djokovic's 7-match win streak against prime Nadal all in Big Title finals.

Those streaks are not that common when both players are close in age, as Nadal was also at the benning of his career and only 11 months older than Novak.

Nadal was a prodigious of precocity, while Novak is proving to be an Übermensch of longevity.

Largest winning streak in Slam matches of the Djokovic-Nadal rivalry: 4 by Nadal.
Largest winning streak of the Djokovic-Nadal rivalry: 7 by Novak (twice).
Largest winning streak of the Djokovic-Nadal rivalry on a surface: tie, Nadal has 9 on clay and Novak has 9 on hard.

Rafa reached his peak a few years ahead of Novak just as Novak was able to maintain really high level few years more than Rafa.

Rafe was a beast in 2008 and 2009 whereas Novak was still nowhere near the player he was in 2011. Likewise, since start of 2024 ovak has been nowhere near the level he showed prior to that.

Difference here, both Rafa and Sinner are creating such streaks vs Djokovic when he was pre prime and is post prime but Djokovic created a streak vs Nadal in Nadal's peak period of 2008-2013, now dont give lame excuses saying Nadal was not at his peak in 2011, he was as good as his best and still got pwned into a streak.

Right. Where the players are close in age, very long streaks are likely only when they consistently play in conditions that favor one or the other. And that's going to be statistically rare. For example, while Nadal won the first nine matches they ever played on clay, and Djokovic won the final nine matches they ever played on hard courts, I believe that neither of them ever notched four wins in a row on the other player's preferred surface.

Djokovic was perfectly fine until the end of the 09 clay season. He was absolutely elite in 2008, Nadal was just better.

If you think that was bad, look up Connors and Lendl's H2H.

Sinner beats a 37-38-year-old Djokovic 4 or 5 times in a row, while Alcaraz beats Peak Sinner 5 times in a row :-D
And Sinner only wins his 5th in a row over Djokovic if Sinner agrees to lose 6 in a row to Alcaraz (y)
What an achievement !!

Not to mention Connors vs Lendl, probably the biggest example of this

As others have said I cannot see anything other than a let down and straight sets romp from Sinner.

Novak is a shadow of player he was 3 years ago and he would get demolished if up against that version, so same will happen against Sinner.

As Hitman has said, it will be an incredible achievement for this version of Novak to take a set let alone win the match.

Dude , Novak is 38 yo with 1000 injuries barely moving. When Nadal beat him , he was young , fresh and energetic. Its so different.
