The guy has a lot of mental fortitude ad great game to work with, first Master Series from qualify to a final, that shows a lot.

I know people will figure out how to play him, he will improve as well, but He is a cut above all the others, Raonic is the next one behind Jerzy.

To me a Slam winner, what do you guys think?

Just to throw some ideas out there:

He will be in the top 10 by the end of next year because:

-Now He gets entrance to all Masters and all Slams and He has no points to defend pretty much, but in Wimbledon. Huge upside.

-He can play well on clay

-He isn't a choker, his mental strength and fortitude is unlimited.

A Champion in the making.

If he keeps it up, he'll do really well for sure, but to win a slam title? Not yet imo. (don't forget the top 4 are not present in this Paris Masters)

He's just burst into tears during a Sky Sports interview.

He was already crying after He won, we can see how much it means to him, he is definitely not taking it for granted like Tomic.

He is coming in right on time as well, Federer will retire soon, Nadal ???, everybody else is a lot older than He is, on his generation only Raonic/Tomic and Dimitrov are relevant as of now.

don't forget he did beat Murray in the 3rd round, yes Murray might have tanked but he did have MP and a win is a win.

Huh?? Murray and Djokovic both played in this tournament. In fact, Janowicz was the one who knocked Murray out of the tournament.

I almost wept this morning after watching his reaction. Spectacular.

Figured out what I love so much about his game. The power of delpo, isner, raonic, etc. (the sleeping giants) but with a better return game than all of them combined and the change-up drop shot abilities. None of the big men can change from defense to offense like Jerzy can in 1 shot. Liking, check, LOVING his game so far.

Congrats on your 1st master's 1000 final and keep it going. I have a feeling he's not just a one match wonder.

There is a lot of water to go under the bridge still, of course He has the potential, if He will do it 2 years from now is a different story, I'm quite sure He will win at least one.

this guy definitely has some serious talent and if he can keep his head together, he'll definitely make it to the top ....

great movement for such a tall guy, great serve of course and inspired shot selection - atleast this week ( special mention for great drop shots )

Well He doesn't have the powerful FH that Del Po and Isner have for sure, Del Po's back hand is very predictable, I agree with you no one of the big guys has the disguise, feel and accuracy on his drop shots, only Fed, Murray and Stepanek have that feel.

Slam winner hopefully he will be.

Change in tennis happening now.

Ah right my bad. I forgot about the fact that he beat Murray. I meant top players in the semi to final :S

I honestly am thoroughly enjoying this run. After Tipsy took the first set, i was like well, game over man.

But I wake up this morning and see he not only won that match, but is now in the final?

Well played, Janowicz. Well played.

Who cares. The kid could win a Masters 1000, that is more than most players on tour, even some players in the top ten.

Love this guy, definitely rooting for him tomorrow whoever he plays. Cannot believe how well he moves for a guy 6'8" and plays with no fear. Can't imagine a qualifier has a shot at a Masters win.

I've no idea the last time a qualifier made a Masters final (Mustard to the rescue here?) but I think Janowicz is the last unseeded player to do so since Kiefer at 2008 Toronto.

I know. I want him to win, and the top 4 not being there won't take away from it. I was just saying that because I don't think he hasn't proven anything to be considered a slam contender just yet. (except for beating Murray when Murray had MP???)

I have been waiting for a Safin clone for a long time. Love what this guy brings to the table, unbelievable movement for such a large man.

I am impressed. He completely outplayed Simon (and Tipsarevic). Where the hell had he been?, I didn't even know he existed, lol. He's more than a serve too.

PS. Doesn't he look like Safin?.

Oh ok. Yes, he has a long way to go to be a slam winner. Let's not get too carried away. I guess people are just happy that a young gun has the guts and the game to win a few matches in a row and possibly win a tournament, lol. Plus, he has an interesting game and is not just another grinder.

He's got potential, and I like him, which is exactly why I won't be voting. Far, far too soon, and why the need to jump so far ahead?

He will get better, but he will lose the advantage of having a game no-one knows about, or taking part in a tournament where everyone is more tired and less bothered by the result.

He's done brilliantly, and it gives me extra hope that the next generation isn't quite as hopeless as I thought. Someone is going to have to win slams when the Big Four get too old/bored. But if he can come through and surprise us, who knows who else is lurking out there?

He plays like Safin too, with a lot of power on both wings.

that's what actually in my mind. Safin's replica with some variety (drop shots).
I just do hope that at least one thing will differ him from Marat - it is tennis attitude. If it happens then we have another real top player that's for sure.

does anyone know how far up he jumps at the atp now?
for reaching the final? or if winning this?

#26 for reaching the final. #22 for winning it. I think he'll be seeded in the AO.

Isn't it amazing the opponents he's beaten en route to the finals:

Kohlschreiber
Cilic
Murray
Tipsarevic
Simon

I mean these aren't walkovers, give this list to Federer/Djokovic and I don't think they'll win all of them, and the last 3 back-to-back. Plus if he wins tmr he'll have beaten Ferrer, that's 3 top 10 wins in a week.

We will need to wait and see how far he gets in the Australian Open to know for sure. Next year will hold a lot of answers for this kid.

yea, and also the 5 set test. i just wish he'll conquer them all

Hey come on, don't jinx him. One step at a time. We need some new young talent in tennis in a bad way at the top of the game but let's not overhype this kid yet. He still has to win this tournament and then after that go on to win some more before we give him saint status! :)

He's kinda quick on his feet for a tall guy.
Overall a very pleasant tennis style to watch.
I hope it's not only a 1 week miracle performance...

But he really needs to do something about his hair.
It's horrible.

i'm not expecting anything. in fact, i'm a known pessimist and fear he won't hold up well at GS's. but i WISH he will ;)

If he can swat aside Murray and Tipseravic, he can beat Ferrer.

A final is big time pressure though. although ferrer won't really do anything better than Murray... unless he's at the top of his game/god mode in which case he can actually out defend Murray and djokovic.
