Jim Courier as a commentator sucks big time

For some reason at night Sky Sports has the American commentators and tonight we have Courier on the Djokovic match and for over half of it he is talking about Federer's documentary. No actual analysis on the match before our eyes, just non stop jibber jabber. The co commentator is as bad.
Actually missing Barry Cowan and Andrew Castle!!!

Pretty much my same sentiments about you as a poster

Why don't you like him? He has one hand permanently in Nadal's shorts lol
Lol please.

Jim Courier straight up hating on commentary.

Courier sure loves to hear himself talk

It’s kind of amazing how much Courier talks

Courier was getting on my last nerve during the match. Some commentators are determined to NEVER stop talking about useless crap.

He talks like he knows it all, like, he would say Djokovic is now thinking like this, and feeling like this, he will do this.

He was having a verbal diarrhoea at the end, saying how ridiculous the end of the match is, because Djokovic was hurt in second set, and in the end Djere retired hurt in 3rd set.

As a know-it-all commentator it is embarrassing that he did not know the new person in Djokovic's team who keep yelling to Djokovic and said that he has to Google him lol.

I will never get why such a high achieving tennis player would get involved with this media work. There must be more fun things for a millionaire to do.

The OP actually feels he needs "analysis" of a second round straight-sets win by Djokovic over a mid-pack player??? Let me do the analysis for you: the much better player wins. I like Courier, find him intelligent and insightful, and I think he realizes there simply isn't that much to say about a match like the one in question.

Nah, he's the best, and ever since ITV lost Roland Garros and we stopped getting him over here it has sucked. I was listening to him and Carillo the other night during the Alcaraz match and their gentle conversational style and musing on all things tennis was as good/better than the match itself.

They tend to do that when the match is not particularly competitive, and that's something I'm thankful for anyway. He can, and does, go in-depth when he needs to.

He was probably as bored as most of us are watching Novak run through a lower ranked player without trying and decided to talk about something interesting instead.
bingo

when matches/games are in hand, or just plain boring or bad, announcers of all sports have to go into their bag of tricks

Courier has been an excellent commentator from the start...knew he was going to be successful from the time I saw him call his first match...maybe Indy?

Id like to be told:
Speed of BH and FHs
Spin rates
Court conditions
direction of usual attacks from each wing etc.

Courier used to be good, he is a clown now.

Have you ever played on different hard courts? Trust me they can be as different as clay and grass in terms of speed and bounce height.
Yes, I have. My point is, your desire on what the specific court surface is for tournament X gets answered in 2 seconds. The announcer then has hours upon hours to find something entertaining to talk about. Same for your direction of attack on each wing. Backhand is the number one answer for 99% of players and when they get a weak return its forehand down the line. Done, now they have to find something remotely entertaining while a top 5 player boringly beats a qualifier in best of 3 for 3 hours. That is not easy. If it was, even you wouldn't be here on TTW commentating.

Court surface conditions, 4 days in, i have yet to be heard mentioned or who it favours.
Your 99% comment is plain wrong. 30 years ago maybe, not today.
