That means, I won't feel the blues because I dislike the winner. Of course I will cheer for Rafa or Novak but if Tsonga won, I would feel pride instead of irritation/disappointment and that sure feels good.

Nobody really cares about what you think.
You are just being trolled.

Three of these people voted after Tsonga went 2 love up, one of those voted after he won, own up.:)

Seriously, I don't know why so many people picked Fed to win. He had no chance. Better this than another Fedal.

Ain't that the truth!

True, but if Djokovic can beat Nadal, I'm not sure I would just hand Djokovic the trophy. He would be a sizable favourite, but not a near certainty barring absolute catastrophe like Nadal.

I'm not up-to-date on how their recent matches have gone, so you may be right. My personal feeling is unless Novak accidentally fell off the second floor of a building during the warm-up he would have it in the bag. First floor he still wins but there are two tie-breaks.

Sure hope Tsonga beats Ferrer, because a Ferrer vs Djoko or Nadal final will be boring.

Federer is my favorite player. But, he if cannot win it, I would like to see Tsonga win it.

So Federer had a weak draw, no? Tsonga so weak :)

No, you don't get it. It was peak Federer playing in a strong era and that's why he lost in straight sets because he is not GOAT. GOAT is Nadal who makes finals of every tournament he enters after being out for 7 months and being way past his 4 months 2008 peak. That's how things work!

Someone give me insight on this match?

I was watching from 2-1 in the first set, watched Fed played a few great points to break Jo, went out for my part-time job, then came back to see Fed getting broken to lose the match?! What happened?

I'm amazed! I would really like to see Tsonga in the final now. Even if he can't grab the title, a French finalist would be an historical, emotional event at RG.

Yes it would awesome.....It would more awesome to see Djokovic up in the final against Tsonga. Tsonga would have a chance against him.....Nadal no chance :(

Hope Ferrer plays real bad in the SF.....there will be some buzz on a Sunday.

You must be real happy being French and a Djokdal fan!

Fed still has 17 GS... nadal can't catch up if his knees keep failing. He can barely play a full calender year.
Djokovic can only play at a high level for so long. I doubt he'll get to 11 or 12 gs.
Neither of these two players can play at the same level of federer when they reach their 30's. esp nadal. haH

fed still has one more slam in him

Real tennis win.

Rooting hard for Djoker now, want to see a Djoker/Tsonga final. In other words we will probably get Nadal/Ferrer.....
Haha yes, this could easily backfire into the French elite's worst nightmare: an all Spanish final

Federer sure seemed very jovial when shaking hands with Tsonga at the net. Doesn't seem bothered by the loss in the slightest. I guess he sees anything he wins as icing on the cake at this stage.

Maybe people just want to enjoy the moment and not worry about records for once...

About halfway through the first set, ******** showed up. He managed to keep it close, before being broken to lose the 1st set 7-5.

In the second set ******** was GOATing, barely putting the ball in play.

In the third set there were some signs that Federer was raising his level a bit, but he wasn't consistent enough.

Tsonga was solid throughout. Good all round and didn't go for stupid low % shots as he usually does.

You bet! This is turning out much better for me than I dared hoping at the start of the event :)

poor ferrer, i suspect most people feel that way, but it's not his job to give them what they want...up to jo

Congrats to Mighty Jo. Well deserved.

Though I picked Tsonga to make the final from his half, I didn't think Fed would go down in straights. If Fed had not got broken back (he had game points in that game ?) and taken the first set, things would have been a bit different.

Instead, Fed got broken back with some bad UEs, , lost the set by a whisker and got tighter and more desperate since he knew Jo won't cede the momentum back but he has to do something to take it back.

Won't jump the gun yet, but wasn't it Vero who said Tsonga has done nothing on clay and hasn't even made a clay final ? Yeah, like I said, there is always a first time.

It's in here again.

Where is Clarky ? She claims Nadal match threads have the worst trolling but how would she even know unless she sees what happens in a Fed match thread.

Anyway, weren't you the one that said you are graduating this week ? Congratulations :)

I think that would be everyone but complete *********s worst nightmare. We all saw what kind of match Ferrer and Nadal play at FO semi last year. Final would likely be even worse.

don't believe so...ferrer has gone toe to toe with rafa now too often recently to get slaughtered, but thing is i think he has even less of a chance against djok, that seems pre-determined as well....it's true, i imagine the french might kill themselves seeing two spaniards in the final but quite frankly screw 'em, they brought that on themselves...i'm sure most non-spanish folks agree with them anyhow

roger federer was at his very best today, Tsonga just had too much.

Yeah I'm disgusted that he managed to win all those slams 2004-2007 by shanking balls into the net, and I'm grateful that Djokdal raised the level of tennis so that these no longer count as winning points.

In the unlikely event that Djokovic takes out Nadal in the semi and Tsonga makes the final, he actually has a shot at the title, no matter how small his chances are. (Against Nadal, it is a big fat zero).
Tsonga would be a most worthy first time slam winner, and how awesome would it be if it is RG. Sadly, it will never happen as long as Nadal is around.

Why is everyone discounting Ferrer? I actually favour him over Tsonga in the upcoming match.

I think we all know that Ferrer could beat Tsonga and make it to the final, but for some reason no one wants to see it. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Ferrer wins the SF. I can really see either player winning.

That was a special performance from ********.

GOATing. Usually only appears against the likes of nadal

Tsonga played well but even federer flaterred him today.
