I think we all know that Ferrer could beat Tsonga and make it to the final, but for some reason no one wants to see it. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Ferrer wins the SF. I can really see either player winning.

I don't remember seeing Ferrer-Tsonga play each other. Come to think of it, Ferrer will make it much more competitive than Federer with his consistency and can out grind him. Won't be as easy as this one for Tsonga.

But please God, no Nadal-Ferrer final. Would be an absolute disgrace to see the rerun of the choke fest. I was so glad these two wouldn't meet till the finals.

Where is Clarky ? She claims Nadal match threads have the worst trolling but how would she even know unless she sees what happens in a Fed match thread.

Anyway, weren't you the one that said you are graduating this week ? Congratulations :)

Tomorrow! School gave me a cookbook today for "fantastic theoretic knowledge", so I guess that has to be celebrated with being absolutely hammered the whole day tomorrow!

A classmate got a copper frying pan in recognition of her incredible talent with creating things from sugar. God knows how much that cost...

Don't worry because Nadal won't make the final. You can bet on that.

Fed just doesnt have any love for the game left, its just job of him, so obviously results wont follow and he looks mainly uninterested during matches.

Fist pumps in Simon match were just for the show, you feel. Didnt look that pumped.

You are underestimating the power of N.S.K and the number of incarnations it can take. I see one active in this very thread , go back one page.

Let's all report him right now. Bob, Dudeski and Zagor need to be avenged.

One of the worst matches I've seen from Roger at this level.

He never really seemed too upset or too pumped up. He seemed like he was just content being there and didn't look all that sad when shaking hands with Jo at the net. He was like "yeah, whatever".

I wonder if this attitude is only for RG and if we will we see a more fired up Fed in his backyard at Wimbledon.

Congratulations to J.W. Tsonga (Wouldn't it be awesome to see him in the finals at his "home" tournament?).

I hope it is only for RG. It makes a little bit of sense considering he wasn't likely to win it anyway, and realistically he probably knew that.

Ferrer has a good chance vs. Tsonga. There isn't much to go on, but he does lead the h2h 2-1, including a 6-2, 7-5 win on hard, and a 6-4, 6-1 win on clay. But, Tsonga has won the only Slam match in straight sets on grass. Plus, the clay win for Ferrer was years ago, and I'd argue that Tsonga wasn't playing as good of clay court tennis.

Regardless, this is pretty much a toss up as far as I'm concerned. The crowd seems to help Tsonga, rather than making him uneasy. I can really see this going either way. Believe it or not, I actually think the clay helps Tsonga a little bit in this matchup (despite his previous loss on clay).

tsonga's press conf is more interesting.

he says he tried to use some of rafa's tactics in the way he makes federer uncomfortable.

he had a long discussion with rasheed on trying to see how they could use some of that against federer on clay.

Though the said thread spiralled out of control in the end, the fun has gone out of this RG ever since the thread went away. With the thread gone, SOG will now lose to Haas or Nadal. :(

Interesting, I did notice Tsonga serving slower but with more kick to Fed's BH. That's the one thing that stood out for me, didn't notice anything massively different about Tsonga's game otherwise.

I am really fearing for SOG's performance against Haas after his 4th round performance. Good thing is there will be no severe winds in the coming 5 days.

Seriously, not only zagor and F1BOB, I am missing 6-1 6-3 6-0 and ManofSteel2013 too. Monfed has also gone sombre with the loss of Fed. This whole forum is looking grim. :(

I don't remember seeing Ferrer-Tsonga play each other.

Ferrer leads Tsonga 2-1 in their head-to-head, Ferrer winning 6-4, 6-1 in the quarter finals at 2010 Rome, Tsonga winning 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 in the R16 at 2011 Wimbledon, and Ferrer winning 6-2, 7-5 in the quarter finals of 2012 Paris Indoor.

But please God, no Nadal-Ferrer final. Would be an absolute disgrace to see the rerun of the choke fest. I was so glad these two wouldn't meet till the finals.

I'd love a Nadal vs. Ferrer final.

It ain't over til its over. And Djokovic is still breathing. He'll fight, you can count on that.

You didn't even need to say that.

If it is Nadal v Ferrer, and it looks likely it can happen now. They should say to him "Here David, have a coke and a smile, and enjoy the trophy ceremony. The final happend on Friday." ;)

Didn't watch the match, was Tsonga GOATing or was fed just mediocre today?

Admirably, Tsonga played very solid - better focus, less circus shots, less unforced errors (for him anyway), and some big play on big points. But, he was not GOATing. Fed looked overmatched, a half-step slow, underpowered, and his evil twin ******** showed up for long stretches. Part of that is simply Tsonga playing smart and putting pressure on Fed, but some of those were truly "unforced" errors.

I don't understand. Did you not see Ferrer push Nadal in Madrid and Rome? ;)

Come on Mustrad, if it is a Nadal/Ferrer final, even Ferrer's parents will not be expecting a Ferrer win. :)

Neither will Daveed. Getting to the final will be his dream come true. I seriously think if you said to him that people want to go home, can we just skip to the trophy ceremony and hand the title to Nadal, he'll probably help put the steps onto the court. ;)

How would you rank the best QF matchups (assuming Djokovic and Nadal come through).

IMO, Tsonga-Djokovic would be the best

2. Djokovic-Ferrer

T3. Nadal-Ferrer or Nadal-Tsonga. Nadal has dominant h2h vs. each player. Ferrer has pushed him recently though and Tsonga has a respectable 3-6, 6-7 loss to Nadal on clay this year and tends to almost always make some sets close. So, I think both could be competitive, take a set, but I'd expect both to lose.

The last time Tsonga made the final of a slam, Djokovic won the title.

I'm sure Rafa is flattered :) (That 's what every player should do before playing Fed at RG. Of course one still needs to have the game to execute the plan...)

Lol, if I were Djoko, I would still wait a few days to open the champagne bottle ;)

Or have any of that cake that I am sure Nadal left outside his hotel room. ;)

Tsonga hasn't beaten Ferrer yet to make the final of this slam

He didn't make the slam final at W either. :)

Tsonga's success is always good for Djokovic. His maiden AO, his maiden W, and now....

The most dreadful scenario would be Ferrer making Final which is looking quite plausible. I respect him but he cannot produce legendary matches.

I did not notice it. :)

Yep. The last time Tsonga beat Fed in a slam, Djokovic beat the reigning and defending champion of that slam for that title...Can you guess who that was? LOL
