Holy crap this 17 year old former junior number 1 and USO champion just blew Fils off the court. Just looking at the highlights you can tell that FH is legit and the BH looks solid too. He's got good height as well could we be looking at a future star? If anyone has any insights about this kid I'd love to here them.

Just watched the highlights and top performance against Fils. All round game on the clay was tremendous cheered on by a partisan crowd. If he keeps that up future star. Highlights are limited but groundstrokes look super solid … line backhand variation was effective … and can inject pace off both wings. Serve placement for someone his age was top notch. And he volleyed well when he had the opportunity.

How'd he get an On Running sponsorship?
Federer is a part-owner of On running and makes sure that many young, future superstar players get signed. Shelton and Swiatek were signed in a total sponsorship deal last year, full apparel and footwear.

I said it before, he gets such big spin off both wings and has great movement for his height. He has these new age groundstrokes optimized for poly which just amplify spin. And he does the cool “laser the ball equally off both wings while gradually moving forward” thing that shows true command of both the FH and BH.

It reminds me of the first time I saw Sinner.

Fils didn’t put much pressure on him, maybe trying to play it safe. I like his strokes better than most, especially his backhand.

Will be interesting to see more of him, also on hardcourt.

How tall is he? It says he's 185 cm but you can't trust the ATP. Is he that good on other surfaces?he moves better than Sinner though I hate to admit.

Fonseca is playing attacking tennis which is good for a youngster and makes for spectacular points. I watched also part of his practise against Sinner in Turin and he hits the ball really well from both wings, you can't fake big groundstrokes. Height is also good and should not be a naturally limiting factor.

Naturally he got a bit rushed against Sinner during the practice set but it wasn't too bad, expected worse. So overall a great prospect, now we will see how he improves.

It's Arthur Fils. And some of those points were just unbelievably fantastic. You should be less blazé and embrace all the upcoming potential, tennis is in dire need of it.
I am all for upcoming potential. Infact, I feel sorry for some of these guys after watching how bad financially they may be doing. Unless they fix it, tennis is going to go on a slow decline into oblivion.

I don't want to compare or predict, as I've seen verrry little of him.
The highlight reels of his two wins at Rio are quite impressive, and considering he's only 17.5 and won the 2003 junior championship at the US Open speaks well for his potential on HC and clay. Wishing him well!

Why? They don't sell any of the tennis clothes or accessories (just shoes, which they hardly advertise).

Geez I just watched the highlights of his win over Tien at the US Open Juniors, the trophy he got for winning the tournament is tiny, it's like something you get for winning a 4.5 NTRP tournament, maybe it's solid silver ?
