Jodar will become the 3rd best player in the world by the end of 2027

I've been thinking about this for a while and had some time to sit on it so here it is :

Rafael Jodar will become the 3rd best player in the word in a matter of 18-20 months. His raise has been astronomic and thinking about the weaknesses in his game I think he's the most likely talent to climb up there and challenge Carlos/Sinner in the near future.

rough mock of my 2027 year end prediction :

1. Alcaraz
2. Sinner
3. Jodar
4. Zverev
5. Fils
6. Shelton
7. Mensik
8. Fonseca
9. Djokovic
10. Cobolli

I wanted to include musetti but he's often injured but yeah I'm pretty sure Jodar will be up there by the end of next year.

I think to get to third, Jodar has to do really well at RG or at the USO. Let's be honest, he's got a tough draw in Paris. Do you see him getting past Zverev?

You should have participated in the 'Who will be in the top 10 at the end of 2026' thread. Fils is also often injured, but this list does look promising.

Pretty exaggerated rankings. Jodar has yet to prove himself out of clay. Fonseca has shown high peaks and extreme inconsistency. Mensik is in the same boat as Fonseca except he has an atrocious forehand. Fils has enough to contend for the rest of the hard court season and Tien has shown he is a master of the post-USO season. Tien should also be in theory good at grass so we'll see where that lands. All in all, the knee jerk isn't exactly an accurate prediction of these kids, only prolonged consistent results will deliver and only Tien and Fils have shown that. Jodar I have high hopes for above Hypeseca and Mensik but it will take time to mature off of clay like how Tien matured on clay this season.

No he wont

He cant convincingly beat Duckworth.

Guy can shred at Madrid one moment, struggle against challenger level players in their 30s the next.

this is year end 2027 predictions. I'm not predicting him to become the 3 r player in the world in the next 6 months lol.

you're too high on Tien he's got the lowest ceiling. He'll fall short in getting to the top 10 like these guys in 2027. You can improve a serve, fitness but there's not substitute for power I'm afraid Tien will hit a wall.

Yeah that's what young players do , they struggle for consistency ..he's been on tour for 5 months . He'll reach the top in 18 months as I'm predicting just watch.

This player is unnecessary on your list and by then he will have definitely dropped out of the top 10 rankings.
:D

my 2027 prediction looking good right now . Mensik , Jodar and Fonseca will probably join them as a slam quearter finalist ...they're cooking. Truly ushering a new era

Djokovic will NOT be in the Top 15 at 40 years old.

Look at how many matches he played at 39 during the first HALF of the year: 13. He made a final thanks to a WO and WD.

What does Jodar do that is exceptional?

Bet on it then and show us your bet
I don't gamble, I'm putting my reputation on the line here though.
As soon as you win a couple of matches at TTW you become the Third Man.
I never made stupid predictions like this guy is done winning or this guy will be that. I'm quite confident in the talent of Jodar though I don't think my prediction will miss or if it misses it won't be by a lot. He's that talented.

Look at it this , he's been on tour for half a year and he's already top 20 level, he's also 19. Hits big off of both wings, moves very well for a tall guy and his service is way below average for his height. Oh and he's still physically under developed, his fitness levels will go up incrementally. He also seems to posses great mentality.

Taking into considerations all these points and it's easy to imagine him rank up in the top 10 with an improved serve, top 5 added stamina/physicality to that and I expect him to continue to improve his game overall which would make him the 3rd best player on the circuit in a span off arounf 18 months. Zverev will be declining slowly by then and novak almsot gone . Who's his competition for that spot ? the points I highlighted he can improve on are easier than suddenly developing an amazing footwork. Yers I'm taling about Fonseca who's also highly touted.

I'm confident in my prediction. I don't think I'll embarass myself, if he falls short to the 3rd best by then it'll be damn close at least I'm confident.

Why will all the other rising and talented young players not improve more while only Jodar will?
That assumes Jodar will be thrashing Fils, Blockx, Fonseca and other young players.
C'mon. Shapo, Tabilo and some other guy (Shaq's other guys) beat him on hard courts earlier this year.
Fonseca has had much better results on hard than Jodar and is now doing what he should on clay at the FO.
Let's see how Jodar does on grass. I meant, let's see what's coming.

I already explained why it's easier for Jodar than Fonseca in my paragraph if you read it well. Jodar just arrived on tour , wdym Fonseca has better results on hc that's nonsenical comparison. With young players it's about where they stand currently in terms of strength ( how good they are) and projecting based on their weaknesses and strenghts.

There was a guy earlier telling me Tien is better aming all the next gen bnecause he achieved quarters at a slam now his metric is in the bin because they've all made a quarter finals. We're not comapring vets here with extensive records .

Why are you listing who he lost to , have you seen the list of players fonseca has lost to in his first year on the tour ?

This troll post should not be allowd.

Jódar cant be top 10 without a serve and with brick hands.

Alcaraz wont finish 2 Either. That IS Zverez
I didn't understand your jiberrish try again, btw i hold people accountable for their predictions so you're the worst poster in my estimation on TTW and that's saying a lot.

Recency bias. People hype Jodar as if he's beaten true top 10 players during the clay season and he has awesome weapons. Neither of which are true.
Regardless how far he goes at RG, there's better players who will improve too so he doesn't reach top 5. I consider him a Verdasco type which is still very good, but not a slam winner.

I detailed my reasons as to why I think Jodar will improve faster than Joao you didn't give me yours . Recency bias ? lol tell me how Joao will improve faster than the player tha t just defeated him conclusively a few weeks ago ?

Hits hard and penetrating off both wings, both down the line and cross court. Good return of serve. Good aggressive instincts. Tough competitor.

Weaknesses: he's not very fast or a very good defender. His playing style is very linear, reminiscent of young Sinner; has to learn to use width, spin, variety and slice. Unremarkable touch. And the big one: his serve is subpar especially considering his height.

Oh god. Another anti Argentinian. Try again because i didnt feel ofendes. And learn to be more objective please.

What jiberty?? You said nonsense putting Jódar number 3 in world a Guy with no serve same touch as a drunk Andy roddick and no physicality

Because i am Argentinian and you are always hating me just for that reason . We are used to this hate and ghosting happens to Cerundolos, Faustino Oro etc. No recognition

Joao self-destructed in the first set tb, then fell apart in the third. It happens to every young player. Although 3 sets is not conclusive, straight sets is.
I can change my mind. Jodar may get into the top 10 but I think other young promising players have a better chance. Early success on clay can be deceiving.

This is very common for players his age no matter who they are. Rafito on clay was an anomaly.

He has potential but is very far away physically from the top level right now. Think he will be a great player in time, but his movement and serve need work.

I have all 4 making the top 10 in the near future but I have Jodar leading the pack , let's see.

Given today's result, are you still so sure that Jodar will be ahead of Zverev within 18 months? It could happen, but after today, I think it would be wise to expect that to take more like 30-36 months than 18.

I honestly didn't expect him to do better than quarter finals , when I saw the draw I had him penciled losing to Z in the quarters. He's been on tour for 6 months and he's 19 . Imagine his serve , fitness and 18 months of experience and improvement on his overall game. 18-20 months is still a reasonable timeline.

If he's top 5 ...imma call it a half victory :-D

I don't get the hype to be honest. I see Fonseca and Mensik and I nod to myself, because the "it" factor is obviously there. I see Jodar and I see a good tennis player. Nothing stands out except maybe the maturity at such a young age.

It's not that he lost in the quarter-finals against Zverev that makes me think he's probably more than 18 months away from overtaking him. Plenty of 19-year-olds have lost to 29-year-olds but been better than them 18 months later. It's that he was only competitive for the first set. If it had been, say, 4-6 7-6 6-3 6-1, I think you'd have much more reasonable grounds for optimism that he was close. As it is, this seems like Zverev cruised through after a nervous start. Even with such results, time is on Jodar's side and he could overtake Zverev within 18 months. I just don't think this result suggests it's likely.

Top 5 could be plausible.

His fitness levels are not up to par ...that explains the dip and the inconsistencies in the performances prior ...just improving your fintess levels can do wonders.

Perfect scouting report, no notes. Seems he needs to grow into a man, both athletically and fitness wise, and really level up on serve. These are of course achievable goals and the baseline fundamentals being there at age 19 is impressive. Still don't see much that would trouble Raz/Sinner unless they were really off
