I really admire this guy's gamesmanship and sportsmanship...
Did manage to take it to the last point,
Even if he couldn't move, he didn't give up or retire from the match.
You've made me your fan, big Johnny...
Wishing you quick recovery and a very good season ahead...

If you notice what Fed said in the trophy ceremony, he made it plain the injury of Isner wasn't serious.

Actually, as John was limping around, all I could think was that he's a fool to keep playing.
Why risk destroying your foot when the match is clearly lost?

He's a PRO, not a rec hack with a desk job.
ATP pros are one injury from being homeless.
When you're injured, YOU STOP, unless tennis is just a hobby.

In one minute, he could have made a week long injury into a career ending disaster.

Congratulations to Roger on his first top 10 win in over a year! :D

First of all, Isner was lucky the Felix gifted him their match. John got his butt kicked in the first set then all of a sudden when it looked like the same would happen in the second he fakes a serious injury, IMO, to have an excuse for losing so bad. Whatever, there was not way John was going to win today, because of Roger's great play, which is probably why the stadium was not full today. Why would anyone dive miles, pay 40 dollars to park to see such a one sided match as it was obvious from this weeks play that Isner had no chance against Roger, healthy or not.

The only reason he never retired is because he was so close to the finish anyway. I respect that he played it out, but I wouldn't have ragged on him if he retired earlier in the set, which he would've.
Well, what I said wasn't about just taking it to end..it was about trying and rallying..
Isner did force an error from rogi and stretched him a bit. He didn't tank. That's what I wanted to say

Be a little kind towards the big man please...
Not everyone create fake injuries

The 2nd set was on serve when the injury appeared, so that's BS.

He was good in gamesmanship or sportsmanship?

I don't know why he finished that last game on one leg instead of retiring. Not a good example to young players, because he probably hurt himself worse. I definitely appreciate the Kyrgios/Monfils approach of retire early & often.

Federer and Nadal both have now played five Miami finals each. Their record.

Federer 4-1
Nadal 0-5

Yes, yes.

He was congratulating Federer on his first top 10 win for 2019, and I asked him how many Rafa has.

Just wanted to make sure that I haven't missed to congratulate RAFA on the same feat.

8-B:giggle:

And Federer's loss came to Agassi way back in 2002 in BO5 format. Just trivia, not saying anything about peaks or primes or any of that garbage.

Why didn't Roger drop shot every shot in the last game? Unwritten rule like underhand serves?
