John McEnroe compares Novak Djokovic's slump to Tiger Woods' slump following marital woes

Rumors are absolutely true. Am really good friends with a guy whose younger brother is a pro American player on the tour, who said that he had something like eight different girls on rotation.

This is pretty well known amongst players on the tour. Doesn't surprise me that JMac would spill the beans on it either.

does this also mean that guys like fed and murray also have harems in their mansions but no-one's caught them yet?

Please, my fourth wife's aunt's distant cousin found out about Fed's harem several years ago. Federer has been sending big checks to three of the ladies that spent time with him in the harem ever since he found that out all three of them got pregnant. He didn't need further tests whether he is responsible for that because all three ladies carried twins.

i understand the logic that a high ranked, rich, young, male athlete is probably going to choose to have a lot of partners but i'm not sure if it then follows that EVERYONE is doing it

i don't think everyone is wired the same way

Isn't McEnroe violating some sort of 'Bro Code' here?

Does he know something we don't?
I don't think so, as the "personal issues" last year still remain a mystery.
Anyways, Jelena is now pregnant with their 2nd child, so this would all have been put to bed by now. (excuse the pun)

McEnroe trying to give credence to the rumours. I don't like it but they've been going on for a while and I know a lot of people on here believe them.

Thoughts on Mac the mouthpiece's latest soundbite?
Why doesn't Novak just divorce her and start over ? Lots of girls out there that want him

Fourth wife's distant aunt's cousin was a dead giveaway. Or perhaps not! ;)

No it doesn't mean that. Djoker has been known as a womanizer for at least 10 years on tour. It's just ridiculous this type of naivete. Because Safin, Borg, Connors and Nastase all boned 5,000 babes between them mean that Lendl, Agassi, Sampras, Edberg and Fed did the same thing?

No.

People's lifestyles and personal choices are different. You have womanizers on tour and monogamous guys. Just like the real world and real life.

Advice from a philosopher that's rarely heeded: "I urge all men never to get married."

One of the (obvious) problems with being a celebrity is that there's very little privacy. So if you have philandering predilections - which many men do - it's very hard to keep secret. Similar guy with similar resources but no fame has basically similar opportunities but... is much less likely to get found out. That's one of the prices of fame - it's difficult to be naughty and married. You can generally pick one or the other but it's tough to be both.

Agreed up to a point. There have been whispers about the escapades of a certain wildly popular and ostensibly pious cricketer down here. Now whether their remaining mere whispers is down to their being fake or the establishment brutally crushing any attempts to blow the lid is very hard to tell. But as long as there is no rape (or worse) involved, I can't be bothered; it's a matter to be settled by the player and his spouse and we are not entitled to tell either what to do about it with our extreme lack of proximity to them.

More importantly he hasn't won any majors since regaining the #1 spot in 2013.

But the truth was that when the scandals hit in late 2009 he was well past his peak of 2000-2006. It wasn't really the scandals that derailed his career, but injuries that blighted him in the late 2000's & persist to today.

There was a time when Nole was faithful to Jelena and Rafa to Xisca. Those good old days...

Tbh I don't believe there's nothing special between Nole and Anna, too. It's said they're childhood friends but I don't think so. The way they look at each other...

yup think JMac has insider info ... he wouldn't openly talk about this in the press otherwise

When I saw Mac talking about his off-court distractions, and issues in his personal life, he seemed to talk as if we were all supposed to know what he was talking about. Obviously, this is JMac here, so he's not afraid to do a bit of stirring, but call me naïve, but I got the impression that he was trying to explain that his dip wasn't anything to do with his actual tennis ability, rather than trying to expose something.

All I'd say is that up until now, I've just heard it as rumours from sources that I cannot verify. Someone like JMac will have reliable sources, so if he believes it to be true, then it probably is, so his comments act as confirmation for many. Anything other than a quick fling, and someone in Djokovic's position won't be able to keep it a secret from his team. His team would definitely know if there had been a bust up with his wife, and they'll have a good idea of what it's about. The idea of a clear-out because they were in on the secret is plausible, and arguably more healthy than the assumption that he blamed the last lot for his poor form.

I'd agree that Jelena's pregnancy means nothing in terms of the truth of the rumours, but it's also fair to say that Jelena deserves a bit of peace. The problem is that Djokovic is very keen to push his reputation as a great humanitarian, and they sold their wedding photos (albeit for their foundation), so a lot of people feel that means they have a right to challenge what they consider to be a fake image. That said, normal people who don't have publicists sometimes have problems in their marriages and pretend they are good until they obviously aren't, so I'm not sure that's a reasonable justification for the reporting.

Tiger had just won the US Open in 08. He was still a top 5 ranked golfer if not number 1 when the incident with Elin happened.

This was her in the Querrey match, not in his box and looking rather defeated.

What a hell are you talking about, this is Jelena right together with his family. Note that mom has almost identica facial expression. You get a bit defeated when someone you love is loosing, don't you think?

I think he handled that quite well actually. He didn't give any credence to what John said without ripping into him, and even putting in a little joke. Classy response if you ask me.

What if you're Jelena? Would it be a "classy response" if you were married to a guy accused of screwing every woman out there and you don't even bother to deny it? When a monogamous married man is accused of cheating (and it's a lie), what do you think would happen? He'd kill anyone hurling the false accusation. They wouldn't joke about it, they would be livid, furious and be in full denial.

Yes, and you personally have started that one, around here.

No I didn't actually. Just read it from the Serbian dirt sheets. Someone posted it on here and I read it on reddit tennis. Did some googling and found those allegations on the Serbian gossip sites.

Well, this rumour was huge last year. Was reported a bit that he was having an affair with the Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone after they left dinner together.
maxresdefault.jpg

After his surprising Wimbledon loss to Querrey which pretty much began his downfall, he admitted that he wasn't injured and that he had personal issues he was going through...
He said:
"It was some other things that I was going through privately. “We all have private issues and things that are more challenges than issues, more things that we have to encounter and overcome in order to evolve as a human being,” he said. “That was the period for me. It happened right there. Was resolved and life is going on like everything else.”

His wife Jelena was also seen sitting far away from his support box during his loss to Querrey which caused many to ask questions if they were in trouble and he maybe had cheated...

I personally did somewhat believe in the rumours. The downfall happened so rapidly and him openly admitting that personal issues were at play made me wonder.. But nothing was confirmed and I can understand why people have doubts.

I highly doubt Novak cheated with the Bollywood actress, I mean, Deepika was already dating this guy:

when she had dinner (?) with Novak. Only a fool would risk losing this guy for a night with Djoko.

I heard/read rumours about an affair with the nanny as well. Just like Jude Law, Ben Affleck, Ethan Hawke, Gwen Stefani's husband or basically just half of Hollywood. Seriously, just hire a male nanny and save the hassle. Men can't be trusted :p:p (that's coming from a male before the meninists come at me).

If he actually cheated, then this option sounds more plausible.

McEnroe never said he was screwing around on his wife. He compared him to when Tiger Woods' personal problems caused his form and game to drop. It would have been an overreach for Djokovic to go there if that's not what McEnroe meant and he handled that the way he should have. Without ripping McEnroe, or ripping Tiger or giving any credence to any rumors that may be circulating in a tabloid magazine. At the end of the day, any personal issues that he has with his wife is his business, not mine or yours, and he doesn't owe it anyone to go into detail about what those issues may be. Somehow, I think you feel he owes an explanation. He doesn't.

Cheating rarely makes sense. Jay Z cheated on Beyonce... Hugh Grant cheated on Liz Hurley! Eric Benet cheated on Halle Berry. Etc..

I don't really think that McEnroe revealed anything-Djokovic stated personal reasons, the rumour mill was Novak was fooling around with a Bollywood actress with photos of them together at events being published-there was a thread on it here some time back. Personal reasons equals family problems & that means the scope is very limited-it either means a family illness or marriage issues.

Well, Deepika Padukone has taken risks before. She's been with a cricketer, a scion, another Bollywood actor. I am sure you know who they are. I think she is not very different in that regard from the character she played in Piku. You know, sex/affairs without commitment. I am not judging here, just saying the Novak story isn't so implausible when you consider the affairs of DP.

May I propose another perspective to this thing when I read the above posts by you guys?

That he may have been cheating for quite a while, either with a Bollywood actress or 8 different girls - could they be an inspiration to Novak? Something that motivates him and keeps him awake each day to exercise and train?

And after the wife and people found out, he could no longer meet these girls, he was sad and has no more inspirations to train? So the solution is to give him back these girls :D.

Do you know Erika Eleniak from Baywatch. At the top of her success and beauty, she started dating a guy in a wheelchair. She was the one that showed interest and make the contact and in the end ... the guy cheated on her  I mean if this is possible, than nobody is safe from cheating.

I watched in some radio broadcast where "the guy" tells his story

This private issue was the start of the fall combined with a decision to play/train less and focus more on other things in life.

McEnroe is in a glass house of his own (knows from experience) given some of his off the court issues.
