interesting how far pickle is behind the baseline to return the fearsome jo11y serve, even w the wooden racquet

It's still over his head. That's gotta count for something.

If I was going to play a match with wood. I would go with the Jack Kramer Pro Staff. That thing is solid
I would also be playing the JKPS. Like the way Jolly is over powering Pickle with a wood racket! I would be chip/charge attacking that Pickle serve and playing SV since thats my preference.

My favorite wood racquets in no particular order: JKPS, JKA, Dunlop Maxply McEnroe, Dunlop Maxply Fort, and Snauwaert Vitas Geurlitas.

All nice hits which I would and have enjoyed playing. I also really enjoy the Bancroft Borg Personal. BTW, the Wilson Advantage also plays nice like the JKPS.

My J90s were very polarized and quite head light with all the weight at 12 and in the handle.

My current frame is very similar.

What is the weight of the wood racket you're using? It looks like the weight is not bothering you much, how much does your current frame weigh for comparison?

Looks like you mostly served down the T from the deuce side.

Is it a lot harder to hit a good slice serve with the wood racket?

Hmmm, I'd say that it's more me than the racquet. My slice serve isn't that great, I have to really practice it to get it short and wide so with the wood they were near the corner which is basically in the forehand wheelhouse.

When I tried to really spin the ball I shanked too many so I went with a 3/4 kick, or 1.5nd serve and tried to stay loose and use warm-up effort for the match.

I'm sure with practice I could adjust and serve better.

My stringer weighed all three, one was heavier at about 14.1 or 14.2 the other two were around 13.6.

My current frame is 13.4 or 13.5. my old Wilsons were 14.2.

Yep, most of the 35s just keep playing opens as thats the best competition. Good luck!

35s are fairly weak here as well, and usually small brackets in the local tourneys.

Problem is when you're in your mid-40's - you're too young for the over-50 bracket, yet it's pretty tough to hang with the stud 20-somethings in the open bracket...

You can play 45’s when you’re in your mid 40’s

Imagine Pickle rolling up to 5.0 sectionals in a 72 Eldorado convertible with his false mustache and aviators blasting Kid Rock, Cowboy.

Just imagine.
