Jolly's Polys

Why? I have better things to do.

I understand that and I don’t exactly enjoy stringing either but it’s so handy and much less expensive stringing for yourself, especially in your case. I can finish a string job in a half hour now so even if you spend an hour or 2 a week you could always have rackets ready to go at no charge except for string price. Plus it’s so nice being able to experiment with different strings and tensions.

This is the great Jolly we're talking about!

I suppose Fed could string his own frames too.

I'd be better off just working an extra 2 hours per week.

but by the time most of us drop off a couple of rackets and then go to retrieve them, we could have restrung them on the same machine by the guy who cares most.....for far less money.

Yep it’s so much easier and inexpensive to string for yourself. In the past I used to have my rackets strung at a shop but once my hitting partners talked me into getting a machine and stringing myself I’ve never looked back.

I think that until you string for yourself you have no idea of what your missing and the amount of money and hassle that you save. Plus the opportunity to really experiment with different strings and tensions.

I believe Jo11y works at a tennis club, and as he stated the labor cost for his string consumption is working another 2 hours.
Different cost benefit calculation when a person can use their time more profitably.

When my kids were playing big events needing fresh sticks for day one, it was the easiest way to be ready with a consistent string job.

Pro Supex makes some great strings but unfortunately they are not as easy to find any longer. A lot of guys like Big Ace, I really like their Blue Gear it’s a very good poly great feel with excellent spin and control.

Gave the RPM power a brief test, rallying with the kids, feeding a bit and a few doubles tiebreakers.

I initially thought it was going to be bad because it's very rubbery feeling on the surface so it stays out of position almost like a syn gut, but it plays ok.

Decent feel, relatively soft, like a poor man's Element.

Further review to come.

Played some 9.0 mixed this morning, I think it's best used in a hybrid.

It's ok, but I wasn't getting the curve I wanted on my ball, especially the serve. Volleys are pretty good though.

Smart is unplayable.

This is just mediocre.

Serving with it was really bad though.

Speaking of Smart, how would you order Luxilon’s current lineup? I’m guessing Alu > BBO > ... > Smart, but what about the others?

(I’m growing particularly fond of Element, specially because I can get it at 1/2 the price I pay for Alu)

Element is really a nice string, very underrated.
