Juan Martin Del Potro vs Rafael Nadal (4th Round, Wimbledon 2011)

Both players will be playing after a 3-set victory, and neither player is injured.

Nadal will be eager to avenge his humiliating loss at the 2009 US Open, and Del Potro will be eager to prove his ability on grass. This will be a match to watch...

I'm happy Del Potro made it this far. But bad luck with the draw, Nadal is much more suited for these grass courts.

Nadal in 3

a pete fan with an entertaining game, this is what we need in the QF of wimbledon ! not a boring tasteless player...

Del Potro has some very good shots to puzzle Nadal, but Nadal's greater experience in this tournament will probably give him a slight edge.

Nadal in 5.

I don't think Del Potro is proven enough on grass, so I have to go with Nadal in 3. I don't think it will be that close either.

LOL, babbette.

JMDP is playing some elegant tennis. He's always downplaying his play in interviews saying South Americans aren't that good at grass.

But I think Rafa has a sense of how well he's playing and will bring his best tennis to beat him. I don't think the defending champion came to lose.

I think it will be a very competitive match.

Nadal in straights, something 6-1 6-2 6-1

He's playing by far the best tennis of his life, there's ZERO chance of anyone taking a set from him this Wimbledon let alone beating him.

Are you serious or are you pulling a namelessone like he did in Paris?

LOL!

A for trolling effort, but no cigar :)

I'll laugh if that actually is the final score. But I'd feel very sorry for Delpo, I want him to get his USO title back! But I want Rafa to win WIM11!

Pulling a Namelessone/Tennisfan3.

Wouldn't that be a reverse-namelessone?

A namelessone would be "Del Potro 6-1, 6-2, 6-1. Nadal played his worst grass match in YEARS against a wildcard barely top 100 getting pushed to two tiebreaks. Del Potro won't let him get away with such poor play, honestly if Rafa isn't going to put in 100% out there he should leave tennis sooner than later"

Nadal wins this pretty easily, I think. Del Potro on grass is just... well... not too good.

Hmm, yes that sounds about right for Namelessone :)

BTW here's a quiz question, who is this? -"This horse is getting harder and harder to back"

I don't know why honestly. Roger is playing really well has a great chance to beat Nadal if they meet in the final. YOu just seem like you want Rafa out because you're worried about him beating Fed.

I don't know if I'd say great but maybe 60-40 in favour of Nadal if he meets Roger in the final.

Well when you consider his age, how much better could anyone expect him to play. If he keeps serving at that level he's a chance against anyone. But yeah I'd still favor Rafa if they met in the final and 60-40 is about right.

that would be Bud, the dud - the 4.5 guy who can beat the 4.0/4.5 , but #185 ranked Peter Polansky :)

Well said Sir. Zagor was pulling a NSK/Bullzilla :)

I quite honestly don't see Rafa pulling this off. I mean Delpo has always been a bad match-up and he's playing really well, while Nadal has been sub-par at best. He's on severe decline, I see him on tour for about 2 years max. He can barely serve, his backhand hasn't made an appearance in years, and his forehand is a shadow of what it used to be. Not to mention he's dealing with e. coli of the thigh along with the mono he's had since Doha. triple bagel from Delpo.

Well the score then was actually
7-6(4), 7-6(2), 6-0

today it was 7-6(6), 7-6(5), 6-0

Also that was QF - Semi and this is 3rd rnd - 4th rd.

There are some complete mugs on this board.

Nadal is seeded some 22 places higher than Delpo.

Nadal has grand slams in the double figures (including two Wimbledons). Delpo has a lone (non Wimbledon) grand-slam.

Delpo has already dropped a set in this tournament and Nadal has not.

There is ABSOLUTELY nothing to even begin contemplating thinking about: Nadal will cruise through without dropping a set, facing a break point, or breaking a sweat.

Is that the same e-coli of the thigh that destroyed nadal's immune system? :)

Somehow nadal winning making the finals of the 4 CC tournaments before RG meant that soderling and murray were the favorites in the RG matches. They took their pessimism to new lows during that RG. Impressive to watch. :)

Just a quick general question... won't there be ANY matches played tomorrow? It's my only day off and I would be devastated.

You mean like how delpo wasn't supposed to take a set vs. djokovic in their FO match? Delpo is playing at a level above his ranking. Nadal is the favorite but he needs to be careful.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but yes, sadly there will be no matches tomorrow as it is Wimbledon tradition to take the first Sunday off.
