Monaco to serve in 2-2. The break is coming in the next 3 games...
Nadal has a BP.
monaco is playing with a good strategy. trying to take the ball on the rise and hit it hard. we will see if he has enough consistency with that approach.
Nadal gets a gift from Monaco. Too many UEs in this game.
That's the problem, consistency. It's gonna be hard to that over five sets lol.
Edit: So much for that.
Ditto. Nadal serving in 3-2.
It's incredible, Nadal does nothing to break. Shame errors are the pattern for Nadals matches.
I feel like at least Raonic had something (his serve) that could have potentially troubled Nadal.
Monaco is not a challenge for Rafa. He's just going to march on his 7th title here, and with as bad as Djoker/Murray/Fed are looking, there's no one to trouble him.
That reminds me the Nadal's break in the first set of Fedal in this year's AO.
Not really, you really need powerful ground strokes against Rafa. For the big servers when they have a bad service game the set's over.
LOL true. This match, as of right now, has no interest.
Nice save of SP from Monaco
But at least the serve troubles Nadal. Last year Isner gave Rafa fits, mainly leaning on the serve, since his groundies aren't great.
Regardless, Monaco might as well be Almagro, Ferrer, Granollers, Ferrero or any other Spanish/South American clay courter that Rafa owns on the dirt without exception.
Monaco is resisting. I don't think he will tank the match even if it's 5-0 in the final set.
Only a big server can trouble Nadal on clay.He is in the final already.
Someone needs to sacrifice a first serve, hits Rafa's bottles + spill them and see what happens.
No he's not.
Most boring match ever?
This has to finish fast, i want a piece of the other match damnit.
Monaco heading for second set Bagel!
Monaco is getting schooled.
Just tuned in, damn! Clean up on isle 3!!
No surprise, 2011 is the worst clay season of Nadal's career. It made 2009 look like a work of art. The only reason why Nadal didn't lose 2011 Roland Garros was because nobody (including Isner) had the guts to put him away (whereas Soderling had the game and the guts in 2009, and Soderling beat Federer in 2010 RG). Nadal's confidence was shot by 2011 Roland Garros, because he was chasing Borg's 6 RG titles and had lost to Djokovic 4 times. So Nadal played short into the court, didn't go down the line, and served as safe as possible. He later admitted this (regarding the safe serving). Isner wouldn't stand a chance of threatening Nadal this year at Roland Garros. No big server would.
Monaco started this match liked his life depended on it.
NSK: maybe we should stop counting the games Rafa loses and start counting the points instead
Monaco's not supposed to trouble Nadal on clay. Remember their Davis Cup match? Monaco has no weapons.
How many points can Monaco win in this match? I say less than what he scored at Davis Cup against Nadal.
this made me chuckle
This match is like Latino telenovela between 2 gays.
how arrogant of Nadal to humiliate Monaco.
I hope we can say that against Almagro in 2 days. What a fun match that should be
Is that why you are watching it.
Nadal saw how poor Federer and Djokovic looked in their respective matches yesterday and is sending them both a message via this match saying "This is what's coming if you cross me!"
Monaco feeling the pain.
Monaco seems to go 30-30 a lot on Nadal's games.
"discussion thread" what is there to discuss
Federer and Djokovic would have lost all hope after today.
routine forehand miss from Monaco. Sums up his quality as a player at the Slams.
I just turned it on to see score hoping Monaco won more then 2 games, I was wrong and I'm back on Gaquet match now. lol
Then again, remember what Federer did to Monaco at the USO? Monaco seems to be every top player's favourite punching bag at the Slams.
I've notice one thing about nadal that id different from a lot of players in this match.
Monaco in the slow mo replays when he feels he has hit a winner he watches it and stops moving as if he knows "That's a winner" and then it come back out of position and he loses the point
Rafa watches his shots as well...but he always seems to already be moving back to the center towards the net etc...
so most players hit "Oh yeah thats a winner"
Nadal- "That might be a winner move for attack to be sure no?"
Rafa is steamrolling, nice and fresh for the next round.
LOL well said.
Wow! I also noticed that.... in 2005.
I hope Nadal plays with this much conviction and confidence in the semi's and final.
This is pitiful for Monaco. He's just getting steamrolled.
Does that even matter?
