I started serious rope jumping about a week ago. I already had fairly strong legs and calves (leg pressing around 400lbs) and I'm pretty fast at the mile and sprints.
My first few times were pretty rough, but since I asked for a rope for christmas and my parents came through, I decided to stick with it. Even in this first week, I can feel the endurance in my calves building. Split stepping is so easy, it's just like jumping..only easier.
I feel faster and lighter on the court more than ever before! After totally busting my ass w/ the rope, i down a protein shake and then stretch. Feel pretty okay the next day, and just go right back to it.
I really advocate getting a rope and starting up, you won't regret it. A good rope is less than five bucks, so there's no reason not to!
http://www.rossboxing.com/thegym/thegym26.htm is a great article on it and
here is an INCREDIBLE video of the author displaying some of his techniques.
Do any of you guys jump as part of your conditioning plan?
