Junior slam champions since 2013 (men’s)

One of my favorite tennis nerd things to do sometimes is to look through junior grand slam draws from a few years ago. You always see such a spread of names, from now top players to middle ATP players to those in the challengers all the way to those who disappeared completely and were never heard from again.

Junior grand slam winners have been a very mixed bag in recent years. The dichotomy in some years has been crazy.

Like in 2016 you had Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov. But you also had Oliver Anderson and Geoffrey Blancaneaux.

And 2019: Holger Rune, Lorenzo Musetti, Shintaro Mochizuki, Jonas Forejtek.

Outside of those two years, some other junior slam champs in last 10 years who have “made it”: Kyrgios, Garín, Coric, Zverev, Rublev, Paul, Opelka, Fritz, Davidovich-Fokina, Korda,

Didn’t or unlikely to make it: Gianluigi Quinzi, Noah Rubin, Omar Jasika, Anderson, Blancaneaux

On the way/close to making it: Alexei Popyrin, Yibing Wu, Dominic Stricker, Luca Van Assche, Roman Safiullin, Thiago Seyboth Wild

Too early to tell: Zsombor Piros, Tseng Chun-hsin, Harold Mayot, Samir Banerjee, Daniel Rincón. All champions from 2022 and 2023.

It’s interesting how there is really no rhyme or reason to it. Like there isn’t a single year with all busts or a year with all successes (except maybe 2015).
