Aloha to all Fischer fans!
Just facts. I had phone conversation with Yevgeny Kafelnikov. I recorded it, so now have all the proofs about Kafelnikov and Fischer racquets on my hands)
First of all, he didn't remember exactly when he signed with Fischer - 1993, or 1992.
About favorite paintjob on his racquets:
"I don't care, I played with one model all my career. With the racket that was from my start with Fischer - Vacuum Pro. I never had ideas to change racket during my career. That racket suited my game and i liked it" - that how he said.
Nowadays Kafelnikov doesn't use his old models:
"Now my models are more like collectors pieces, you cant buy them, maybe on **** or staff like that. And for me, I'm playing with what is available on a given day - Wilson, Babolat".
For me was important to know - with what model of Vacuum MP Pro Kafelnikov started - with the very first one (MIA) or from the second one (1993, not MIA but Fischer Austria).
But on this photo we can see clearly: it's the first model, with lots of pink and bright line through "Fischer" on the outer side of the throat.
So, with this knowledge we can say for 100%: Kafelnikov used one model all his career with 8 paintjobs. And yesterday I've got the last one - that very first, MIA, that was made by the end of 1991.
Now its a jackpot: I have all 8 retail models and few PERSONAL Kafelnikov sticks!
